Youngins, there was a time in history when Michigan's coaches, especially the ones for non-revenue sports, didn't make all that much money even adjusting for inflation. I can remember looking at the salary survey and thinking that the golf coach (whose name I can't recall) was barely earning a middle-class salary. Times have changed.
Bo had a famous flirtation with Texas A&M in the early '80s that's briefly mentioned here:

Remember that football (and, to a lesser extent, a couple of other sports) makes those salaries possible.
