Best song is Runnin' Down a Dream.
October 2nd, 2017 at 3:46 PM ^
While that one's probably my favorite, there are simply way too many to count.
Refugee, The Waiting, American Girl, Last Dance with Mary Jane, Saving Grace. All of them are classics.

Technically a duet with Nicks, but I think the it's his best and he wrote it.

Very good song, not much airplay.

Mary Jane's Last Dance is the coolest rock song ever made.
It's well-written with a not-so-subtle metaphor about marijuana and uses sexy-ass, smokey-room guitar hooks. Chill and singable with a superb solo. Great opening riff and a steady, simple beat. It has a few touches of harrmonica but there's no cooler, pure guitar rock song.

I'm sorry, but I cant seem to let this go. Did you just simulate a double post? Your Don't is spelled wrong in your second post.

He edited the first, you can tell by time stamp.

I didn't realize I had a double post and edited the post I saw. Sorry all!

I think Wildflowers is underrated.
October 2nd, 2017 at 4:38 PM ^
His most underrated album is Echo. Wildlfowers is great, but surely got its due.
October 2nd, 2017 at 6:37 PM ^
+1 for each of you for the Wildflowers and Echo references.
Wildflower was very good.
Echo is vastly underrated. I listened to it recently and was surprised how well it has aged. A lot of great tracks on that album but Rhino Skin is my favorite.

and my first DDD CD.

I listen to that album often.
October 2nd, 2017 at 4:50 PM ^
is all of them
Honestly, I don't think he wrote a song that I didn't like.
Fuck today.
Another piece of my youth is gone.

October 2nd, 2017 at 3:59 PM ^
Australian news, the BBC and a few others now out there that they turned off the life support and that there was no brain activity as well.
RIP Tom Petty.

Has it been 100% confirmed that he's passed? All the reports are saying so far is that he was found unconscious and rushed to the hospital.
Hope like hell that this isn't true. One of my all-time favorite musicians, but never got to see him in concert.
October 2nd, 2017 at 3:51 PM ^
TMZ said they pulled life support after he was found to have no brain activity.
October 2nd, 2017 at 4:37 PM ^
Fuck. Fuck. Fucking Fuck. A bad day just keeps getting worse. Life can be cruel and merciless.
RIP to one of the all-time greats. I never appreciated music until I started listening to him. He was who actually got me into music. The first time I listened to Running Down a Dream, it was like a lightbulb in my head turned on. "Oh, now I get it....."

I broke what was supposed to be my first date with my wife when a buddy called me w/ 5th row seats to see TP in concert. I made it up to her later and things worked out between us obviously but he has always held a place in my heart for that reason.

He was the soundtrack to high school/college years. Listened to him more than anyone in the late 80s/early 90s.

Only two left, right?
October 2nd, 2017 at 3:46 PM ^
Apparently declared no brain activity. Shit.

I really wanted to see him this summer and kept missing him. True legend.
October 2nd, 2017 at 3:57 PM ^
I had a chance to see him in Boston this summer, but opted to go see Spoon.
I'd like a do-over. Sorry to see a true legend pass too young. (Also was sorry to see Holger Czukay pass away a couple of weeks ago, speaking of Spoon.)
October 2nd, 2017 at 6:01 PM ^
Your aside about Holger threw me for a minute - thinking - "wait he was in Can, not Spoon" before realizing you were going Spoon-->Can song Spoon-->Can.
Jaki Leibezeit went too. Such an amazing band.
October 2nd, 2017 at 7:10 PM ^
Yep - the band Spoon took their name from the song Spoon, hence the tie-in. Damo Suzuki had better be watching his back, the way things have gone for Can this year.
