2017 Season Tshirt is out
but if you had a deal where you paid the university hundreds of millions of dollars I'd bet you could put your stick pic avatar all over things too.

How did we go from "Hooray! We are the only Jumpman school!" to "How dare they put a Jumpman logo on our apparel?"
I don't get it. This is a big deal but we no longer treat it as such.
August 4th, 2017 at 10:55 AM ^
For me it was when we went from "hey look there's a little Jumpman logo on the jersey" to "sweet mother of God the Jumpman logo on the back of that shirt is so huge it blots out the sun"
But that's just me.

with you Yo_Blue, I don't know when this switch happened. There was a small contingency that wanted the "basketball guy" off their lawn, but it seemed there overwhelming praise for the switch to Nike and Jumpman. Now all of the sudden everybody hates everything, Harbaugh's game shirt is ugly, the fit is bad, the logo is too big, white pants are terrible, etc. etc. Really weird.
Some of us never wanted the Jordon branding to begin with. Bad Boys Forever!
/Yes, I know it has been almost 30 years. Don't care.
Nuance exists, you know. It's not quite that simplistic.
August 4th, 2017 at 11:20 AM ^
And I dont have any issue with Nike whatsoever in promoting their brand. It's just for me it's too damn big. That's simple personal preference - I'm sure there are people out there (insane people I might add) but people who think it shoud be bigger.
I'm not an anti-jumpman guy. I'm an anti HUGE jumpman guy. FWIW I thought these were stupid too "hey look I'M WEARING POLO EVERYBODY. LOOK AT MY HUGE PONY". To me the enoromous jumpman is similar.
Do I begrudge Nike for doing it? Nope - they paid for the priviledge. But I dont' have to like it.
August 4th, 2017 at 12:00 PM ^
It is getting out of hand.
I also like the giant M. DIdn't notice at first glance, but it has some subtle helmet wings in it. Pretty cool.
I wish they had a higher quality material for this shirt. Once I start wearing these shirts regularly they wear down so fast. The colors fade, the printing wears, and the shirt streches out.
I get that its the student shirt and they are trying to keep the prices low, but at least offer a higher quality option.
Rant over.
this was definately true with the adidas. did the quality carry over to the Nike/Jordan shirts?
I'm unimpressed.
Really don't like Giant Jumpman. This is different than almost all of their other gear - and this is the shirt that is everywhere.
Thanks OP. Not going to shoot the messenger, but not liking these.
That jumpman... too much. Woof.
Looks like it could be a basketball shirt from the back.
A year to skip the season shirt. That's fine since I've got about 12 others. Also, can we get blue shirts back at least once every few years? When was the last time, 2005?
August 4th, 2017 at 10:26 AM ^
2005 was the last time with a blue season shirt. Do you want a blue student section though? I don't think that's a good look in the stadium compared to the maize.
August 4th, 2017 at 10:48 AM ^
But one with a workaround - students are there for 4 years, so every 4 years make a blue shirt, and let them choose what to wear to games. On designated "Maize Out" games, they'll have at most 3 maize shirts to choose from. My yellow loads of laundry are starting to rival my towels.
August 4th, 2017 at 12:11 PM ^
Obviously students are already allowed to choose what they wear to the game, the season shirt just helps steer them. But even if you hypothetically limited all of them to wear only season shirts, you're just going to get a mix of blue and maize on the "blue" years" then. That's not better. And what about a freshman coming in on a blue shirt year?
The lack of one main school color in the season shirt rotation is silly, especially when the argument is "the student section wouldn't be as yellow". Twenty years ago, nobody cared if the student section was color coordinated, yet nowadays everyone wants to be Penn State.
I could as easily say about your scenario that the lack of consistency is silly, especially when the argument is "I want a blue shirt".
I mean ultimately we're talking about aesthetics either way. Any argument here is "silly".

I liked it better when they listed the program's accomplishments, instead of just putting the schedule on it. Any program can do that, but only we can claim to be #1 all-time in wins.
August 4th, 2017 at 10:02 AM ^
I'm not one of the people that complains about the "basketball player on football uniforms" thing. It's just a logo after all, and a logo of a very famous brand at that. But the huge Jumpman as the background of the football schedule that otherwise does not mention the word football on that side of the shirt is a bit silly.
August 4th, 2017 at 10:34 AM ^
I pretty much agree with everything you said. I think the front looks great. I'm not a fan of the huge logo on the back of the shirt. It would bother me the same if it was a swoosh, Adidas tri-stripe or Under Armour.
August 4th, 2017 at 10:15 AM ^
"Deep Throat" in the athletic department says "Follow the money".
August 4th, 2017 at 10:16 AM ^
That shirt is awesome.
August 4th, 2017 at 10:27 AM ^
Did you know that Michigan has a deal with Nike to have Jumpman-branded gear? You know, Jumpman, the silhouette of Michael Jordan from the 90s? The athletic department isn't sure that you know so they want you to know. So do you know? Jumpman!
August 4th, 2017 at 10:36 AM ^
Love that. Such a simple design, which is all that's needed. Jumpman FTW.
August 4th, 2017 at 10:39 AM ^
I love everything but the big jumpman behind the schedule.
August 4th, 2017 at 10:51 AM ^
I like the jumpman logo behind the schedule. *shrug* It's not like there's not a huge block M on the front where it should be. The jumpman thing is a big deal. Everyone understood that when the deal was announced and yet, so many seem to have forgotten. They've even changed some their social media names/bios to reference Jordan (twitter, snapchat). Of course they're going to advertise it. Again, it's a big deal.
August 4th, 2017 at 11:13 AM ^
What the hell, Nike? That looks horrible in every way except that it is a Michigan shirt.
Our rival schools continuously have better-designed shirts that aren't so geared to one specific season. I know it feels gross, but search for the 2017 buckeyes shirt. I know -- it's OSU -- but at least Nike put some serious effort into the design / did a fan vote.
Ours is just generic and blah.
August 4th, 2017 at 12:14 PM ^
I searched and nothing showed up...
I don't mind generic and blah. But I can't wrap my knoggin around a hoops guy posterizing our football schedule. Last year it was cool to be jumpman. Now everyone has it.
For me, I don't get the "Michigan is the only one to have Jumpman, it's so cool."
Other teams didn't have it because a basketball logo for a football uniform makes no sense.
August 4th, 2017 at 11:15 AM ^
and that's aside from that fucking jumpman logo.
August 4th, 2017 at 11:16 AM ^
And I love the giant Jordan symbol. Greatness + greatness = more greatness. But, what really caught my eye was the subtle helmet stripes in the block M.
August 4th, 2017 at 11:38 AM ^
...slump for Jumpman?
August 4th, 2017 at 11:48 AM ^
Like Harbaugh's sweatshirt.
August 4th, 2017 at 11:49 AM ^
Love the Block M with the wings hidden in it. Also love the jumpman on the back. It is not the dominant feature of the back of the shirt and it does not block any of the schedule, just adds a little more to it. Now if they can make these in drifit so that they dont shrink weird or fade that would be perfect.

August 4th, 2017 at 12:28 PM ^
The men's basketball team is playing a really short schedule this year.
August 4th, 2017 at 12:29 PM ^
First thought is that gigantic patch of blue screenprint is going to be warm on a sunny day.
Second thought is that's an ugly shirt.
Blahhhh...not impressed, the nike shirts are all starting to look alike,
I have always had the unpopular opinion that jumpman branding was garbage. I'm glad others are starting to see that as well. Maybe the selection of non-jumpman branded stuff will increase.
