Tyler Duffy's response to Pete Thamel's article.
Generally, making a post with a title and lack of info that make me nervous to click on your link in the first place isn't going to get you far in life.
I fell on the sword and clicked it for you. It's safe.
Uninformative title is uninformative.
this will end well.
don't know how to make an informative title, you don't know how to structure a good intro...basically, the title should be " you don't know how to make an appropriate post in any way shape or form".

Fixed it and I clicked on the link. Great read - thanks.
I don't know who Tyler Duffy is, but he's not internet-ing correctly. Rational thoughts and stats are no way to drive up clicks and become a famous "personality".
I love the way he ends the article though
This should be reiterated. Harbaugh is not looking up to James Franklin. He beat Franklin by 39 points last season (could have been worse if Michigan had not let up). Franklin was so desperate in that game he kicked a field goal down 28-0 in the third quarter, to ensure that his team scored points.
Tyler Duffy is a UM of grad, I've known him since I was 8. Rational and levelheaded are his trademarks! Glad to see him getting some love!!
He started freelancing not long ago, but seems to be wrting quite often for Awful Announcing and The Comeback.
Third place in his division versus conference champion (with wins over OSU and Iowa).
Which conference season would you rather have had last year, theirs or ours?
And no wins over Michigan
We were an official's (horrible) opinion away...
Thanks for the link.
...and that JH has a warming seat when the team performs poorly..It will make the victories all the more sweet, especially at Penn State. PSU reminds me of the soft spread teams like Oregon that got repeatedly overpowered by strong defenses like Stanford, OSU, and LSU..I'm hoping the James Franklin hype train continues until the Michigan game.
Just need to make sure we don't fumble the opportunity against FL, and set up it looks like it will be.
I'm betting on Harbaugh. Pundits will come around in a NY minute.
see you did it to. repeating what others have said instead of coming to your own conclusion. msu would have never came close to blocking that punt if the punter doesnt drop the snap. they blocked it fine. watch it again.
What do you mean, "I did it [too]"? Just pause the video at six seconds using the youtube link below and tell me who the Michigan guy at the top of the screen is blocking.

I agree it wouldn't have mattered if Blake hadn't dropped the snap, but he would have had a better chance to get it off after the drop with better blocking.
That IS my own conclusion.
If the punt was blocked without the drop I would agree but there was plenty of time to get the punt away even with the extra rusher. He could have even got it away with a bobbled snap but he dropped it and it bounced forward towards the rush.
If you want to lay blame on the staff in any way it's that O'Neil may not have been properly instructed on what to do in that situation (fall on it) but, then again, you never really know how a guy will respond in that situation.
take the 5 yd penalty for delay of game then, if they are that worried, or even noticed at all.
The way the uncovered gunner turns and looks back, I'm still convinced that it was supposed to be a fake but Blake was thinking ahead about throwing it and dropped the ball. Oh well, what's done is done.
nobody for msu on that side of the ball comes close to blocking that kick. and by the way only two michigan players released down field, somebody has to cover the kick, dont they?
Not in that situation. MSU didn't have anyone back to return it. Just about every other coach would've done a max protect punt. Get the punt off, then release and go chase the ball. Or just kick it out of bounds.
what does any of this have to do with the punter handling the snap
Is there ANY evidence that Harbaugh's relationship with Stanford was anything but fine throughout his tenure there?
enjoyed reading it so much I would read it again.......but I am kind of lazy
He wasn't really using Hoke as the standard, just putting Harbaugh's results in the context of the aftermath of the Hoke era. Harbaugh had to completely change the trajectory of the program that had been going downwards for 4 straight years, while simultaneously changing the culture. That he did this with immediate results in the form of back to back seasons with double digit wins shows that he's doing a fantastic job and any journalist questioning the job he's doing is merely doing so to provide hot takes and generate clicks. It's sad but articles like Thamel's are what most journalism has come to these days, just a bunch of baseless speculation meant to elicit a strong reaction with no actual analysis or reporting.
Right on the money.
We have fans who cannot see this?
That was a good read and a great article. It is pretty easy to get over the title of the post. But hey, mgoblog's gotta mgoblog.
