Hockey Game at Ann Arbor Bars?
With the announcement that the Michigan/Bemidji game will be aired on one of the Fox Sports affiliates, does this mean that Ann Arbor bars will be able to pick it up? Does anyone have any information on which (if any) bars will be showing the game? As a Comcast subscriber I think I'm stuck watching on my computer unless I can find a bar showing the game...
The last I saw was that the game was going to be on delay on ESPNU, so thats good news!
I've never had a problem asking bartenders to see if the game is on then leaving if they don't have it to find another bar that does. I've had really good luck at the Grizz this year. Also, the Arena has a good hockey crowd (for Wings games too). Connor's also is usually good about putting it on also.
As long as you know what station its on, you should be able to find it fine, just ask the bartender to switch to that station.
I've got my DTV DVR set to record Channel 614 - listed as "College Hockey: NCAA Tournament, East Regional Final (Teams TBA)" begins at 6:30 PM EST on Saturday.
Replay at 10 PM EST on Tuesday March 30th channel 614 again.
Almost any sports bar should have the Fox Sports national package on DirectTV. I can't imagine them not.
Bruce Madej sent out a tweet last night that he was trying to get Comcast or public broadcast to show the game as well. I didn't hear any official word that he was successful.
Nice. Good on that. Keep us updated on the info as I know you will.
I am assuming that any and all bars in Ann Arbor will be telecasting this game.
but in years past, there has been a lot of competition in AA between the televised UM Hockey games and the NCAA basketball tourney (whether M is playing or not).
I agree that The Arena is very hockey-friendly.
And that will ensure that they have it on.
IMO the Arena is the best place in AA to watch the hockey games.

The Arena was the ONLY place I would go to watch hockey games. The entire crowd would be there for hockey and we would all do the chants. Every other place I've tried, we would have to fit the manager to get the UM hockey game on a screen, audio would never happen.

For Michigan NCAA playoff hockey I have never had a problem at Buffalo Wild Wings on State Street. Everytime I have not been at the game I would go to BWW and they would not only have it on but they would also have the sound on and the place was filled with Michigan hockey fans.
But the Arena does sound like a great place to go from what you are saying.

It's been a few years since I last tried BWW, but I always had issues there, even when half the bar was there for UM playoff hockey, they still had two random basketball teams on.

BWW is just BWW, nothing great. The Arena actually has some character.

The game was picked for live broadcast by Fox Sports North (essentially the Fox Sports Minnesota / North Dakota regional channel). If you have one of the two satellite providers and the full sports package, you should be able to get it easily (DirectTV Ch 668 for HD, 614 for standard; DIsh Net is Ch 436). If you don't have the full sports package, Dish Network sometimes puts regional Fox Sports on the Sports Alternate channels, 440-460.

I've watched several games over the past few years at Charley's, they should have the games on, and there is usually a good crowd for big games

Comcast has now picked up the Saturday night game. It will be on channel 900 for Michigan digital customers.

I'm a big fan of games at Fraser's too

I'll throw in another one for Grizzly Peak. Even if the line is long on Saturday night, you can grab a table or a seat near the bar and just watch the game for an hour before you get seated. Last time we just ended up getting dinner at the bar.
