Todd McShay projects 3 1st Round Wolverines in NFL Draft
Jabrill Peppers - #4
Taco Charlton - #26
Jourdan Lewis - #28
"Heisman finalist Jabrill Peppers will be the first Wolverine taken off the board, McShay says, at No. 4 overall to the Chicago Bears. The Bears have several positions of need, but Peppers could fill a substantial hole at the second level and would be one of the best players available at that spot."
"Pass rusher Taco Charlton could come next at No. 26 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, an ideal fit for Keith Butler's attacking scheme. Charlton led the Wolverines with nine sacks this season.
Cornerback Jourdan Lewis is another potential first-round option who McShay thinks may land with the Oakland Raiders at No. 28.
If all three are chosen in the first round, it would mark the first time that's happened for Michigan since the 2001 Draft when WR David Terrell, OG Steve Hutchinson and OT Jeff Backus were all selected early."
Hope he is right!! Go Blue!

I guess Gary will have to come back for his senior year so he can be #1 overall too. Darn!

We will have a ton of people getting drafted.

This is dumb but your comment made me wonder if we would actually have more than 2000 pounds worth of Michigan players selected in the 2017 draft.
So, I started going from the most likely to be drafted with their listed weight and worked my way down from there.
As it turns out, the first 9 players on my list totaled 1936 lbs, just a 4th grader shy of the one ton total we're looking for. The 10th player, Erik Magnuson, blasts through the barrier to bring the total to 2240 lbs. Congratulations, Erik! May your Viking forefathers smile down on you from Valhalla.

Hey, I said it was dumb.
But yes, glanced at the row number and forgot I had a label row.

Think of Jourdan Lewis locking down one side of Ford Field and Darius Slay locking down the other! I can dream...

at outside corner. they view him more of a nickel corner and they think he's shorter than 5'10" and is about 170-175 lbs which is way too small to be playing outside. Don't be surprised if he gets drafted at late 2nd to early 3rd round.
That being said, he's a great corner who can provide a lot of value as a nickel corner.

I see what you did there.

Nice to see Taco up to first round projections. He's going to be a stud in the NFL.
Could see several guys go on day 2: Darboh, Chesson, Butt, Wormley, Glasgow, Magnuson, Kalis, Stribling? Could see guys like Delano Hill, Thomas, Gedeon, and Braden get a chance in the last few rounds or as UDFA's. I'm sure I'm missing some others but my head hurts.
December 14th, 2016 at 4:21 PM ^
are Butt, Wormley, Lewis and that's it. The rest are basically day 3 to UDFA.
Darboh, Chesson, Glasgow, Magnuson are likely candidates to get drafted on day 3. The rest are basically UDFA.
The wildcard is Maurice Hurst. NFL likes him a lot but would love to see him at 290 lbs since he's too light to hold up physically at DT.

Bears - Harbaugh, Raiders - Woodson, Steelers - Woodley
Where did McShay project Jake Butt?

He really needs to come back for another year.
December 14th, 2016 at 1:20 PM ^
Stop the snark. But if he is a 1st rounder, I think he's just barely one. He's excellent as a KR but only very good at all th other positions he plays.
I think that if he gets assurance that he goes in the first round, he will be gone. If sticking around another year would move him up dramatically, he'll be back. But i think he would have to focus on and master a position other than KR to move up the draft ladder.

I still think there has to be a good shot Butt could sneak into day 1.

Taco to Steelers, yes please

Still a bit surprised that Peppers is projected that high.
I mean...I'm not, but the question still remains of where you put him in the NFL.Too small to be a linebacker, and his coverage skills are still a little iffy.
He might be a great strong safety that you bring down into the box for run support. His instincts are second to none. And he'd of course be a factor in special teams. But I don't know if you draft a safety that high. Maybe there's just a team that has so many holes they figure he can solve a couple of them at once.
I just hope he doesn't get picked up by the Browns with their second pick. That's a frickin death sentence for his career. Or anyone else's for that matter.

I'm a Bears fan and for Peppers's sake I really hope the Bears don't take him. They would find a way to ruin him and I don't think I can mentally handle that.

I'm just happy the Patriots have a first round pick. I'd be happy with JD or Taco.

Would love to believe 3 1st rounders, but there may be enough doubters in NFL that Peppers and Lewis fall lower. BTW, did Mitch Leidner make his list of 1st rounders????

And they are similar-ish. I think he could fall a bit, though, and end up in the 7-10 range.

Wherever he goes, he'll be a project to a certain extent. But the attributes he brings to the table will make him too good to pass up for some teams.

Could Taco be an OLB for a 3-4 team on the next level, or is he strictly a 4-3 DE?
December 14th, 2016 at 3:32 PM ^
He's not a OLB. If they go 3-4, he'll play 3-4 DE, not OLB and 3-4 system is pretty much a 1 gap system in the NFL.
