Saturday Night Drinking and Hoops Watching Thread

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

Apparently most of the board is on the wagon, drying their respective livers out as we went from near-daily drinking threads to zero.   It is a beautiful, snowy winter day up here.  Fire is lit and the BBQ is about to be lit, and some red pop about to be had.

Michigan's hoops forturnes could take a great turn tonight, or it might be one of those 'not in the face' type of games.

Peppers has a slim shot at the Heisman.

The drinking lamp is lit:  What is in your glass/cup?

Wow. Could Lamar Jackson look anymore like a fucking idiot in that terrible suit? Be a professional, douche bag. This isn't your prom.

He's not a professional, he's a 19 year old kid who is on the national stage in a huge moment and is blow away by the gravity of it. Certainly deserving of your disdain. It's the one moment we get to see these guys reduced to being little kids and showing us the side of them we rarely see. Or we can say he looks stupid and unprofessional. Okay.

not what i would've predicted. hey, go blue.    they showed up ready to play.   and the ref's owe us a big one for that fake foul when wilson made no contact whatsoever with ball, who flailed himself into 3 free throws.  weak, weak, weak.

Well, here is where the Heisman voters tell us yet again that all they care about are statistics for RBs and QBs. This is the dumbest award in football.

You know. I was thinking about that today and I think it is very fair to consider stats. Jabrill had just as many opportunities to get TFLs, sacks, hurries, INTs, and then some TDs on offense and special teams. He just didn't build a convincing resume. He is still the most versatile player in all of CFB, but he should not win the heisman

Agree with you Amayz solid season but didn't capitalize or make the impact like a Woodson. He didn't make game defining plays on a regular basis and obviously the INTs make up a solid stat which Jabrill just didn't have. His impact on the game is more nuanced and isn't really just a highlight reel like the offensive guys. Just the nature of the beast. He's is a special player but they got this one right.

Fuck the Big Ten Hockey refs. That no call on the boarding on Lockwood in the 3rd that knocked him out of the game was almost as bad as the Conboy/Tropp cheapshot on Kampfer. For a league that prides itself on player safety, that weekend series was a gongshow all around with the refs.
