As others have pointed out, those look more like satin finish, not matte. Here's a visual difference:

Are they for sale yet?

not matte.

Definitely satin, maybe even eggshell, but I won't split hairs.

I could go for a little more of the Phthalo blue, and throw is some Alizarin Crimson for shading

And Michigan will do to their opponents what Bob did to his brushes after dripping them in odorless paint thinner ...
Beat the devil out of them.

"Those don't look like matte helmets"
These were the mattes from the Outback bowl:

I still think those jerseys with blue instead of yellow numbers have potential.
I think you should start bending over now so you are ready to go by the time I get over there to spank you.

I was at that game and didn't notice the helmets were matte that day. Either way, best helmet ever!

I'm a fan.
But even if I wasn't, just "win the game."

Here is two more. So glad Nike fixed the maize from whatever that crap was Adidas gave us last year. Looks great.
August 3rd, 2016 at 11:47 AM ^
I'll wait on a final verdict until they are seen in person; a lot of the pics yesterday had a dark, school bus / Iowa / orange-y maize that was if anything darker than last year's dark maize. These pics you have here and the OP pic (note the clear contrast between the uniform maize and the endzone lettering maize whose color dates to the 2003 fieldturf installation and which was always too dark) are promising.
But they are a lot lighter than other stuff we've seen. So I'll wait and see.
August 3rd, 2016 at 12:50 PM ^
The images yesterday were darker because they were computer generated images. I was at the MDen on Sunday and all the Nike stuff is the bright maize, not the mustard crap from last year. These photos are about as clear as it's going to get. Michigan football posted a video on their twitter account and from the looks of everything the maize on the helmets has returned to the proper lighter shade we were accustomed to before last years abomination.

Anyone have a picture with some of the school bus yellow apparel from last year next to some of the new Nike stuff from this year to contrast them? Do you have anything?

There's a lot of promotional "fluff" quotes about a uniform's design process. This would be absolutely awesome.
"We picked a color of maize that looks good in the end zones of Michigan State and Ohio State, because they will go there a lot."

That font fuckin' kicks ass!!
August 3rd, 2016 at 10:52 AM ^
I actually think this finish looks better than the glossy helmets. It somehow makes the wings pop a little more.
I also think the shoes really add something to the overall uniform.
And they defintately seem to have gotten "maize" correct.
August 3rd, 2016 at 11:19 AM ^
So I've often had a off the wall question about the team-issued shoes that players wear, both basketball and football players alike (and other sports, I suppose). If they're all wearing the same type/model of shoe, does that shoe just happen to fit every one "just right"? I'll try on 20 pairs of shoes and still be looking for that one has the right fit. Maybe players just say screw it and wear it anyway, but I think that would lead to performace issues/blisters, etc.

That they are a Nike school but if he preferred a different shoe, they would just tape them and draw on a swoosh.

on every helmet. It's just better, and one of the only great uniform trends in the last few years, IMO.

I could be wrong about this, but I thought I read somewhere that at some point UNC was going to get Jumpman at some point as well? I know they have it for basektball, but somewhere I thought I saw something about the football program getting them too.
Just Michigan per Harbaugh.
"Great idea," Harbaugh said. "It all went into motion and ended when Michael Jordan called me on the telephone and said they wanted us to be the first and only football program in the world to be Jordan. I said, 'You had me at hello.'"

@Wolverine Devotee
Quick question...the Nike website has a picture of the AJ Trainer Low that says coming soon. Do you know if or when those will be available and the name of the shoes that some of the players and Harbaugh had on yesterday at the Jersey unveiling? They definetly weren't the AJ Trainer Low's. Thanks in advance for any insight you might have on this.
August 3rd, 2016 at 11:01 AM ^
responded to me on Twitter and the AJ Trainer Low will be available starting at 9 AM Saturday. Limited quantities.
I believe the players were wearing the AJ Trainer 1 yesterday.

So did they indicate if the AJ Trainer 1 be available at some point as well?
August 3rd, 2016 at 11:45 AM ^
I would keep checking the Jordan page on Nike's site. They have the AJ Trainer Lows on there and I assume they will have more shoes coming.
