OT - How Hot is It? It's So Hot That...
Mates,
I don't know about you guys, but I can take the cold a whole lot better than the heat. Up north here it was mid-90's where I was and even now at 9:30 has only cooled off to about 75. It is so hot that the chickens don't want to lay eggs and milk production is dropping too. The only good thing about the heat is that we've had enough moisture that the corn is looking wonderful.
So the questions are:
1. How hot is it? It is so hot that....
2. What are you doing to beat the heat?
Have a great weekend, and indeed, beat the heat.

That's a form of hell on earth right there.
Passed a bunch of road guys working the blacktop with hot asphalt today. I did not envy them.
was that a bill burr joke or am I imagining things?

I'm in Macomb county! Whereabouts is your restaurant in relation to the mile roads?
Maybe I've went there before.

9 out of 10 sparties around here are t-shirt fans that can't tell you when their last claimed national title was, or how many conference titles they have.
I'm not sure how many actual msu fans there are even are. You can't judge it by their attendance at games, because they only show up for one or two games.
Mysteriously, all of their shit that they displayed on their cars and chests in 2011, disppeared in 2012. Hm!
And they wonder why no one respects them or cares about them outside of MI.
And Green St? That's over by the water.

Never fails. I remember all those people coming out of the woodwork when they got off to a fast start in 2005. 4-0 and #11.....until we beat them.
Then they all disappeared until 2008. Funny.

that was 11 years ago, when you were what, 7 or 8 years old? I bet you remember.
Pause.
Heh, you have no idea how much of a memory I have.
I remember things from the crib when I was maybe a year old.
I put my memory up against anyone in the world's. My God-given talent is having an incredible memory.

That I told my in-laws "thank you" for the offer to stay another night in their cabin, but we were going to call the vacation quits a day early and head home to the air conditioning
the chickens are laying hard boiled eggs.
Beat it? Go to the big lake of course, then no farther than sister's house on Lake Muskegon where it's usually 15-20 degree cooler until about 10:45.
We had 113 heat index here in Iowa the past couple of days...just crazy.
I work in a warehouse. 9-5 during the summer given that classes aren't going on. It's about 10 degrees hotter than the temperature outside.
So yeah, 104 today. Not great, Bob.
One can only put so many fans in front of their face. And then you realize you're just cirulating hot ass air in your face.
"hot ass air in your face" and the faces of others, buy yourself some Beano.
Not this one:
This one!
my mother-in-law's kiss was warm.
is this her?
Just another reason I can't wait for fall.

High Peaks region of the Adirondacks: it might have hit the 80s today. High of 77 tomorrow, 80 on Sunday for the ironMan.
So, I'd say it's so hot that if we get two more months of this perfect weather, it'd just about make up for the godawful nonexistent winter we didn't have.
That's scary stuff! Stay safe.
Crap, I'm taking the kids to Magic Mountain tomorrow. It was already going to be hot enoungh as it is.
115 this afternoon in phoenix with about a 10% humidity. But it's the desert so we expect these types of temps. I'll take the heat over the cold any day of the week.
Several years ago, during a heat wave like this, I had a temp job working in an auto parts plant. I baked swing arms for sun visors in an industrial oven, trying to get them to conform to specs.
The job lasted for five weeks, and I lost 11 pounds in that time, mostly sweat. If I wore a dark t-shirt, it would be white-streaked from the salt.
The funny part was when the engineer in charge of the project (UM grad, and a good guy) asked me if I'd like a full-time job. He completely understood when I laughed at his offer, saying, "I know, but I had to ask."
is true- 115° here in Phx is much more tolerable than 90° with high humidity elsewhere. You don't get all wet and sticky because everything dries so quickly. I lived in New Orleans for several years, 95° with nearly 100% humidity- that was miserable. You couldn't breathe, and you had to take three showers/day.
One thing I did do: Installed a ductless minisystem A/C for the bedroom. We can keep the rest of the house at 80°, but cool the bedroom down quickly to the low 70's at night.

It's so hot that I honestly considered building a fire in the fireplace so that the house would cool down a bit. The A/C only does so much after a certain point.
I also made the mistake of doing a little mulching, and I even waited until about 7:30 PM - still pretty damn hot. The bags of mulch that I let bake in the Jeep for 4 hours? Well, my car smells a little loamy at the moment, so the windows are cracked.
