OSU hosting "MEGA" camps....featuring RichRod
Not sure if this is Urban firing a shot across the bow, or what....
But Rutgers in involved, so this HAS to be the next chapter in the #WARONRUTGERS
http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2016/05/rich_rodriguezs_wildc…
I don't see this as a 'shot' fired.
Harbaugh is doing much the same thing in AA (Multi-day camp with other coaches). I actually see this as Meyer trying to keep up with Harbaugh.
As they say "emulation is greatest form of flattery".
I do find it funny that RichRod is planning to be there but it actually makes a lot of sense given the offense the two programs run.
Edit: Just noticed that the tweet says the camps 'return' so I assume they've done this before too.
Actually, Charles Caleb Colton was credited as saying "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." And, yeah, Meyer is flattering Harbaugh big time.

If it goes anything like RichRod's prior trips to Columbus, it'll be over by the half-way mark.
This is a sort of troll job, IMO. Full troll would just have been hiring Josh Groban to peform. That would have been funny.
In any event, good for the rivalry, so I approve.
If he wanted to go full-troll he should've invited Oregon to get Brady there, too.
This makes a ton of sense with similarities in style (all the elite HS dual threat QBs who never want to play in the NFL should attend!). IIRC Urban and RichRod traded notes a few times back in the WVU days.
To hell with Notre Dame. Just need to see that in "print" every now and then.
Also, Fuck Penn State.
Boston College coaches will also be there.
Looks like Urban was pretty strategic with what schools he wanted at his camps.
Also, since Harbaugh seems to have a relationship with Baylor (...), Urban decided to go with TCU.
Urban is no dummy. This is awesome, and hilarious that he's taking Rutgers along for the ride.
Now the last remaining domino to fall is who will be buddy buddy with Mirk D'ant'onthy and the Spartans. Too busy collecting chips; doesn't want his players shoulders to lose their saltiness.
Tressel wouild be the obvious choice, but if he were still allowed to be around cfb, and I don't know that he's not, he'd be at OSU. Given that, I would think Narduzzi and dependent upon just how involved Saban wants to get in this, he would be the logical choice given their background as hc/asst But that would be a terrible mistake on Dantonio's part, imo, because it would have to be at MSU because Nick has said I'll play but only on my terms.
Steves Wolverines, that is a damn good question. His first two, most logical choices, Tressel and Saban aren't readily available. Because you don't want a staff that might teach in a manner conflicting with what you taught, I am certain each staff is assigned an "agreed upon" role is their speciality. Now Dantonio's is defense, no doubt about it. Seems to me he would benefit greatly by an offensive staff that teaches the pro game, much like they do on offense, but I really don't know who in his network would be the perfect fit in this regard.
You bring up a lot of excellent points.
I agree with Narduzzi and Pitt as probably the most likely team to partner with MSU.
I like your thinking with trying to pair up with teams that run similar systems, and I'd bet a lot of teams would like to see Pitt and MSU preach their defensive techniques.
I would like to approach from a different angle. What about teams that also have the "Chip on the Shoulder" syndrome. Teams that often get overlooked, disrespected, and/or ignored by the major media.
Possible teams (?):
Utah
Boise State
Texas Tech
UCLA
Oregon State
San Jose State (might as well team up with fellow Spartans)
Arkansas
Iowa State
Miami (ytm) (I think Dantonio and Richt are on good terms)
Pittsburgh
and the reason I brought it from that angle was because of your question who was lett to pair up with Him. As I stated earlier, Urb, RR and Stoops had done this annually, only to stop when they were in the same conference, so getting back together is not a stretch for those two.
You could approach this from similar styles, and like I said as long as these coaches are top notch, I am certain they will all have their specialties to assure they don't jumpt right in and tell the campers what they had just learned from previous staff in unimportant.
Now if BB hadn't burned so many bridges there would be a lot of coaches to pair with and Dantonion would be one. Similar offenses, etc., and maybe their common approach is to see how many people you can get to hate you.
Meyer, much like Harbaugh did at Stanford, laid a foundation and I'm not sure if the print is being followed, but their success has stayed.
Richt stuck around the SEC along time and he was clearly the only coach the consulted the rule book first to see if a new idea was viable instead of trying the new idea and then checkint to see if it was worth ignorning the rule. I'm glad he's at Miami, and as difficult as I thought it would be just because everything that's in his way logisitcally, many have said he would be one of the few that has a chance due to his unquestioned character.
I think the other teams you listed could go from the ignored, chip on the shoulder angle, but I don't think any of them have had sustained success where they can use it as a viable argument. Likewise, I think the pundits try to push UCLA every chance, every year and somehow they fall short.
The reason UM and Baylor jumped out at me is because of what is going on at Baylor, but at the same time, I think Briles and other coacches see things in defenses that coaches attacking from more traditional sets don't even look for.
Many interesting considerations. Some of these coaches, if for no other reason that falling behind should clean up their act a bit. I think a lot of coaches would like to see how Beilema makes his rush attack so effective, but being around him for over 2 hrs could be a test.
MegaCrap featuring Urbs and RR.
*This* is their definition of MEGA? OSU, TCU, a couple of middling programs, and Rutgers? And all ONE day a piece?
Seems a little skimpy for "MEGA."
I believe it seems that way because this version of the poster forgets to mention the incredible deals on appliances as well as the 0% financing until 2021. I could be wrong about that, of course, but the look on Urban's face in the poster - at least to me - just broadcasts someone who believes he has THE deal for you.
This made me think of one of those crappy SciFi Channel movies... "Megashark vs. Superwhale"...
The entire MAC will be there!
OSU had a front row seat to RichRod's coaching from 2008-10, and if they still want him at their camp they're even dumber than I thought.
Point taken, but it seems that Urban and RichRod are buddies of some sort. A few years ago the former endorsed the latter:

He would have so much more success if he just hired a really good DC and let him do his thing. That and try to up your level of recruiting. Do that and there is no reason for RR not to be successful.
His stubborness behind this, especially in that he played db, is certainly confounding. His insistence on outscoring the opposition as the key to victory should have been shitcanned a long, long time ago. I am actually surprised at the level of success he has had virtually ignorning that side of the ball.
Hard to outscore people when you are giving up 30 points in the first half.

what did Rosie gain in his all out attack on UM? The writing was on the wall as to the direction of his career, so he undoubtedly received something for being willing to embarrass himself on a national scale. What is the going rate for purchasing a sports columnist now days? I can think of no other reason. I mean that cat threw a lot of shit on the same wall and got so very little to stick.
There are many adjectives I would use to describe Urban Meyer, but "dumb" is not one of them.
Also, seeing as how Rich Rod and Urban Meyer are friends and run similar offenses, it makes sense for him to be invited to an Ohio State camp.
