OT: 2016 NFL Draft Day 2 open thread

Submitted by Magnus on

The second day of the 2016 NFL Draft is under way. What kinds of crazy things will happen tonight?

Two guys with injury question marks are already off the board. Jaylon Smith (Notre Dame) was picked by the Cowboys, and Myles Jack (UCLA) went to the Jaguars.

I have only been to rcmb a few times. I couldn't resist. here is the first entry in a thread tonight.

"Connor Cook has been fucked by the media. They've done nothing but bash this guy, And all of these dip shit NFL guys bought it. Cook is in a different league compared to fucking Hackenberg, You've got to be kidding me right now. What disrespect, Cook is better than all of the QBs selected so far. Fuck the media"

But he's not a starter.

Every year in this thread I say the same thing. You HAVE to have 6 starting OL. It's why I wanted the Lions to draft Taylor Lewan. Sure they were coming off a solid year with the OL, but they had no depth and guys with expiring contracts.

With injuries and free agency, you HAVE to have 6 starting OL.

IMO, Swanson is a #7 or #8 OL.

that last year was Swanson's first season as a starter. It also was under a scheme that ill-suited the entire damn line. A line that actually did well under Schwartz, but mysteriously dropped off once Lombardi came to town.

In other words there isn't enough data to say that Swanson is a bench player.

Meanwhile the Lions defense has been starved for talent for years. You can't win if you don't field a respectable defense. Teryl Austin needs more than tape and glue to be successful.

I just think they need another interior OL, period. Whether it's Swanson or Glasgow that is the starter's level backup on the interior is up to coaches and whoever plays better. But get some options in there.

Just because it was year 1 in a poor system doesn't mean he's automatically going to put it together this year either.

Regardless, it was a solid pick, IMO.

Stafford has proven what he can do with a solid line and what he can do when he doesn't have a solid line. Keep his jersey clean, period. You need 3 starting OTs and 4 starting interior lineman unless you have a backup that can play 4 positions on the line.

Going into the second with 5 starters or in the Lions case, 3.5 starters, and a prayer and a wish is silly.

You don't have to go 2-deep. But you need some depth. Detroit's been burned in recent history by assuming 5 was enough on the line. It's like having just 2 WRs. That's stupid. You don't need pro bowlers that are backups, but you need some solid options, preferably young rookie contract type guys.

oh, here's another nugget. hope nobody tells him the buckeyes actually had 5 first round draft picks, not just Apple. It might ruin his night as he's delivering all of those pizzas. Here's the amazing post:

"That's a fact but it fucks MSU from a perception standpoint and Cook in terms of money. First rounders going in the third says to recruits that you'll get overlooked if you go here. It's all hype. Didn't see a single Bickeye on the field I'd blow first round money on and someone took Apple in the first."

Glasgow and Decker on the same line....Lewan and Conklin on the same line. Sounds nice. (Got a feeling those will be nasty lines with everyone pushing each other).

Have any of these QBs that unexpectedly slide out of the first round ever panned out?  I mean ones that were expected to go in the first round so not Brady.  The ones I can think of are Barkley, Jimmy Clausen, and Brady Quinn.
