Maize Shirts/Spring Game Idea
Just a thought here. I know there was a lot of dislike for this year's maize out shirt.
And we have high hopes of filling up the Big House for the spring game.
Now, I'm not entirely confident of when the decisions on the shirts are made, but perhaps they can have people who attend the spring game choose. Every person who comes gets to vote. Perhaps by getting the whole entrance system organized and using an electronic voting system or even using the texting system (not my favorite idea).
This will:
-let people who care about Michigan football vote on the shirt
-let people who care about the shirt come and raise the numbers for the spring game
-voting, democracy, America, Ricky Stanzi. Love it or Leave it.

I thought the athletic department emailed the students and asked them to vote on the designs, or something like that. I really don't remember any more how it's done, maybe it was a contest and the athletic department just picked the best submission.
Edit: I'm not saying your idea is a bad one, just that I don't think there has been an indication that they are likely to change the way they've done it in the past.

I don't remember getting such an email. I hope they still consider me a student..........
However, I still feel my suggestion may pull people to the spring game.

There wasn't actually an email, just a contest.
There eventually was voting, I remember Varsity Blue running a series on the finalists for the 2006 season. I don't remember how you voted though.

The images are dead by now, but you get the idea.

and I know for at least 2 years of my tenure at UofM, students had the opportunity to vote online between 3 Front and 3 Back options. i'm positive about this, because i remember voting.

There has frequently been voting, but for at least the last couple of years the text has been chosen by the athletic department and it was up to the students to design how they wanted the specified text to look (there may have even been more restrictions on the design). For the last two years, I'm not even sure it was student-designed, there were just a couple of options for people to vote.
The best, in my opinion, was the first year (I believe 2003) when it was totally up to the students to design the shirt. The block M wasn't quite right but, other than that, it was awesome.

You are assuming they counted the votes...I heard they hired the Broward County election officials to run the whole thing. Is there such a thing as an e-chad???
