OT: RIP former Chrysler CEO and Michigan Man
John Riccardo, former CEO of Chrysler, and true Michigan Man, passed away yesterday.
He was a family friend and had football and basketball season tickets for decades. I'll always rememebr the time I got to sit with him and his family courtside for a game to watch Tractor Traylor & Co beat Illinois.
He was a wonderful man, a true leader, and represented the university well. RIP, John. And always Go Blue!

According to his son, Fr. John Riccardo, the elder Riccardo's last words were "Thank God Walton made those free throws."
If you get a chance, go to the Our Lady of Good Counsel website and listen to the homily that Fr John said today. Incredibly moving eulogy of his father for the religious and non-religious alike.
Requiescat In Pace, John.

Chrysler was in real trouble because of the CEOs choices. Iococca saved the company with money from the goverment and crappy disposable cars.

he helped save Chrysler by recruiting Iococca, and stepping aside, feeling that Iococca was the right man for the job. Also, his controversial decision to invest in front-wheel drive models was critical to the eventual resurgance of Chrysler under Ioccoca.
So AraTman, even if you just feel like being a dick, at least don't troll a thread about the death of a man, who by all accounts, was a mensch.

Well it's either here or Fark and they tend to be more fame driven. You won't read this obit there but you won't have to deal with the snark either.

If it lends to the relevance, apparently he was stricken while at the game.
My dad, also a Michigan economics major, worked for Riccardo and had the utmost respect for him. I also knew his son in high school. RIP John Riccardo.

Impressive man, impressive family. (Anyone else think of "Mad Men" reading that article from Crain's?)
Not to be OT on an OT, but I'm coming back to MI to work for his son. Too bad I'll be a day late for the funeral.
Will be good to be back among the Blue! May we all go home after a big win. (Just...not the same win, of course.)
