Michigan Player(s) plant spear in Spartan Stadium during pre-game

Submitted by MGoBender on

Apparently, per all the Twitters, some Michigan player(s) planted a spear on the block S during the pregame.

Does Hoke have any control over his team?

This is apparently why Dantonio went for the last touchdown (way to take the high road, Mark).  But still, if there was ever a time to not disrespect your rival, it was before this game.

EDIT: Some Tweets:

"Them putting a spear in a field before the game is not a product of their team but their program." - Dantonio on the UofM Pregame spear.

Connor Cook was clear, last TD was because MSU felt disrespected before game. Said a UM player stuck a spear in field before game

Buddy just asked me if Dantonio ran it up because of Nussmeier's reaction but just heard UM players speared the S. That would explain it

And worst of all:

Hoke said he was somewhat aware that one his players put a spear in the ground before the game but "not fully aware"

Perhaps, not worst of all. This seems dubious, so please be untrue:

According to the #MSU players, they saw a #Michigan players throw a spear down on their field during the national anthem.

Final Edit: Appears to not be on the block S. Here's the .gif

Is the comment really even that snide? I'm sure I'll get some flack for this, but that made me like Dantonio more. We are pathetic right now, and have been for a while - what are our players thinking pulling this stuff? If the situation were flipped, I'd want our own coach reacting the same way.

You know what, he may be a butthurt little man, but he turned that into further motivation for his team. Any coach worth his salt will turn any perceived slight into something to exploit to turn his team into animals. They continually punched our team in the mouth on just about every play. I'd say his tactics worked

This, if true, is the most embarrassing thing to me to happen to Michigan football in years. Yes, worse than what happened with Shane Morris. This is absolutely classless if true.

That quote is pure gold. Does Hoke think equivicating like this helps at all? He just looks like someone who has no control over his team vs merely an idiot. If he was only "somewhat" aware his fucking players were planting spears in the opponents field he should be immediately fired for not having any control of this team. Did they smuggle the damn thing on the bus with no one seeing?

how the fuck are you not aware one of your players has a spear? How do you not see it on the bus, or in the locker room, or have over heard players talking about it? There is no control. I really have to think Brady walks around clapping and mumbling something about executing.

It's funny you bring up this point. I remember in my first job some coworkers having a conversation about if they had a choice would they rather work with an in competent but nice employee or a hardas- who's an a-hole but is supremely competent. They agreed they'd rather have the competent employee than the nice employee.

I see their point every week under this coaching staff while watching games.
