"We don't talk about injuries."-Brady Hoke
You'll know when they hit the field. Or not.

The direction Peppers took that shot, it looked llke a high ankle sprain, so I doubt we see him on the field until the Big Ten season. Those take at least 3-4 weeks to heal and then the ankle area still remains stiff until you get acupuncture.

Lots of rumblings that Gardner might be out with an injury today. Nothing official, obviously, but still concerning.

for post of the year! The negativity on here is unbearable at times.

It's the negativity plus all the snark—with this thread being a perfect example. Good luck wading through all the negativity and snark to find any actual serious responses to the OP's question.

Sam just made a long post defending Devin Gardner among other things.
"I think it’s ridiculous to think about changing the quarterback two weeks in, but Josh is entitled to his opinion and we don’t censor staff opinions here to fit a narrative.
My take on it is Devin’s poor play (which a broke down in vivid detail here and on the radio) really emerged when the team was down 21-0. It doesn’t excuse it, but it does give it context. "
Goes on to say that 2 games into a season with a new OC is not big enough of a sample size to bench DG. The rest of the post is even more interesting. Talks about how he has to have more respect in his critiques because of his access. He has been called in by Carr, RR, and Borges to talk about his different critiques of the team.

most of that. I do respect Scout for letting them post their opinions without worrying about it fitting a particular narrative. More than I can say for Rivals evidenced by them no longer having Jonathan Chait write for them.

Out of excuses? How about being on his 3rd offensive coordinator and playing 2/3rds of a season at WR? He's not without fault and we'll see how he does the rest of this season, but thinking that a true freshman (last year) or a true sophomore (this year) is going to be an upgrade is just craziness. We've seen Shane play, he has a lot of potential, but he's no where near ready for primetime yet and will almost certainly be a downgrade in nearly every way, regardless of how poorly you think DG is playing.

You wondered about DG being our QB after ND game last year? You mean the game where he threw for nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns, when he picked up 82 yards on 13 carries (that's a Denard-like 6.3 yards per carry) and another touchdown? That's the game you wondered about him? Yes, okay, he did have that one incredibly poor decision on the throw from our own end zone that gave Notre Dame a free touchdown. He also accounted for five freaking offensive touchdowns. As Brian would say, comong man.
