Fun Tailgating Ideas
So there seems to be a lot of OT lately, and not suprisingly so since it is the summer and there is really no news coming out of Fort Schembechler. Since usualy this time of year going into summer I start thinking of what I should get to improve my tailgating experience for my guests that I take with me to games in the fall. I have nothing real special for my tailgates, I have a standard canopy tent, weber grill, cornhole boards, a basic fold out table for food, I just bought a Jawbone bluetooth speaker so I can play music with my iphone, a football. I don't have a generator because a quiet one is quite expensive, but I bought a power converter. Last year for one of the afternoon games I was able to use it to bring a TV and brought an antennae and watch some games on ABC/CBS. So I just want to ask other Michigan tailgaters, what are some different things you have for you tailgates that make unique compared to other tailgates or what do you hope to get to add to it?
I actually wear what the southernors call "croakies" on occassion. That way I don't lose my Costas after a few glasses of whiskey.
Don't invite Mayhem
My friend tried an entire bottle of Jagermeister.
I would not recommend this idea.
We always had a fire setup for the kids and the parents during the cold games. Brought down about a dozen logs and the first one leaving the game would get the fire and the chili started. Smelled great and warmed us all up after the game.
If you crack the window open, your gf will be just fine in the car during the game
in the car.
(and I know you're just kidding, so don't take offense, ESNY)
But the puppy? NO! I can never understand leaving pets unattended for any length of time in a car, especially in the hot sun. Sure, it's not as despicable and dangerous as leaving kids unattended in cars, but wrong all the same.
I see this kind of idiocy way too often in mall and shopping center and other various parking lots. And it seems like it happens an awful lot during the summer, when the heat is most intense. I've only seen it a couple times while tailgating, but there has been, unfortunately, a couple times I've seen dogs left in vehicles at Pioneer HS and elsewhere while their owners apparently took off for Michigan Stadium.
Please don't be "that guy".
Since 2009, my uncle and I have been throwing a thing called the Jager Yearbook. In fact, some of you fellow MGoBloggers have said you have stopped by in the past. We take a standard Jager tap machine, hook it to a generator, and then let the fun begin. It's always easy to locate us on the east side of the golf course on State Street, as we are always flying a big orange Jager flag. Throw in the grill for food, a canopy/tent for the hot or rainy days, and the 3 pong tables which we use for fun things like pong, flip cup, and speedball, and we are well on our way. Of course we still bring standard fun bearers like cornhole and washer toss and after its all said and done we have great times.
I stumbled (literally) past that once or twice---wasn't it in the lot next to Crisler Arena east of The Big House? It was quite a while ago, but your post reminded me of seeing that ingenius idea somewhere.
Probably some grads of the U of M Dental School...
