You know what's great about this time of year?
Is that we play in a much, much more important tournament in the next 4/5 days, will most likely be a number one seed, at worst a two seed, and there are some awesome basketball games to soak in over the next three weeks. Yeah that loss hurts, but Michigan has still beaten Michigan State the last six out of nine times. (And our coach is not an angry little man)
So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
Go Blue.
I'm happy we got a clunker out of our system. Its tough to win 14 in a row. Now the real test begins.
well done. creative too. next time can you try a light-sabre cut 'em in half deal?
Nothing that happened this season or last season matters once the selections are announced in a few minutes. We'll have to beat good teams to win a Championship. End of story.
Much like last year, getting away from Big Ten officiating should free things up... which is a frightening proposition.
This lose only hurt this bad b/c it was MSU. Winning the BTT would have been awesome, but honestly, beating MSU is almost always as nice.
Fortunately we get to move on immediately, and:
- Refs won't allow the mugging that they allowed today
- We haven't lost in a while - could be good for us going forward
when you shoot as poorly as we did today. Better for this crapfest to happen now than next week. It doesn't really matter.
This game is analogous to the last regular-season game in the 88/89 season. There was no conference tournament, and Illinois kicked our ass by sixteen, 89-73.
Then when Frieder quit/got fired 2 days b/f the tourney started, I thought "Well, I guess that's the end of that..."
What followed was the most unexpected and thrilling championship run I've ever witnessed by a team I cheered for.
Beilein will have the lads in the right frame of mind come go time - count on it
So we didn't run our win streak to 8. Ah well. We lost to a good MSU team that has all it guys back and probably wanted this one more than they would a hypothetical NCAA title game win. Not taking away anything from MSU's well-deserved win, but historically Beilein hasn't really cared that much about the B1G tourney and now he gets a week to prepare for the poor shits in our regional.
We'll be fine.
We were all hovering over the panic button to finish last season and we all know what happened next.
If they call fouls a bit more strictly in the tourney, we are really really dangerous
Good that Michigan got the lost out of their system today.
