This is dumb on so many levels if the coaches knew about this. They clearly should have realized that the optics would be terrible on this, even if they are somehow trying to take advantage of loopholes to circumvent the rules. What a terrible example to be sending to the players on the team, and probably not necessary.

And, if they needed this advanced scouting that badly - there would have been better ways to go about this that probably would have reduced the risk of getting caught. They hired a guy on staff to put tickets in his name on his personal credit card. How dumb is that?

This might be Harbaugh's Urban Meyer moment, unfortunately.

Hiring (or allowing to be hired) a guy who did entirely legal things he was probably completely unaware of is a far cry from  knowingly keeping a spouse abuser on staff and helping to cover it up. Or maybe you’re talking about when he kicked his own player. Or maybe when he got drunk and fingered a blonde at a public bar.

Get a grip.

If the coaches were aware of, and benefited from this level of prohibited advanced scouting - it is also morally questionable. Certainly domestic violence is worse, but we can't be complete homers on this.

This is a really bad look for the program and if proven true, will give Michigan plenty of cause for termination.

If UM gets punished for this it’s their fault. The NCAA has everything you give them - nothing else - and it’s not like the FBI where they can just raid your house. It’s a professional “turn-over.” This isn’t meant to say they need to do such covering up….but if they did, beyond dumb if they get “caught.”
