The Michigan Football Mount Rushmore Post 2006
Who is on your Mt. Rushmore post "The Game" 2006? I realize it was slim pickins for a while.
"The Game" was a defining moment / end of eras for various reasons, which is why I chose it. The nearly two decades that have followed have been fascinating.
Jim Harbaugh of course.
I gotta go Aidan Hutchinson for bringing the program back and be an awesome example of a legacy young man who created his own legacy.
I would go with Jabrill Peppers for bringing the M name and brand back to some relevancy.
I would go with Blake Corum for that final chisel but it is close.
Who you got?
My guy instinct is Michael Barrett, Michael Barrett, Michael Barrett, Michael Barrett.
My more serious thought was: Jim Harbaugh, Jay Harbaugh, Sherrone Moore, Ben Herbert
If only players I would pick from the following list: Brandon Graham, Denard Robinson Jake Butt, Jabrill Peppers, Mo Hurst, Devin Bush, Jourdain Lewis, Jake Moody, Jon Runyon Jr, Zinter, Stueber, Caesar Ruiz, Hassan Haskins, Rod Moore, Aidan Hutchinson, Will Johnson, Blake Corum, Mike Sainristil
Honorable Mention: Ben Bredeson, Owenu, Olu, Rashan Gary, Chase Winovich, Kwtiy Paye, the Don.
TLDR: This is hard.
Brandon Graham
Denard Robinson
Jabril Peppers
Aidan Hutchison
Harbaugh, Peppers, Hutchinson, and Corum.
Harbaugh turned us around and the other 3 were the closest to the Heisman we've been since Woodson.
I understand the spirit of the question, but If we're going precisely 2007 and after then it's Denard, Hart, Henne, Hutchinson and Jake Long if you can add another. There is no other correct answer. Denard because obviously, but 2nd all time rushing yards and beat OSU. Hart all time rushing leader and current coach who coached other guys who have an argument to be on this list. Henne because all time passing yards leader AND touchdowns and Superbowl champion to boot. Hutch because Heisman runner up, single season sack record and beat OSU. Long because arguably the best Mich offensive lineman ever and first overall NFL draft pick. If I'm going with how I presume the question was intended, I'm picking Denard, Graham, Hutch, and Peppers. Butt and Moody would have a legit argument. Justin Feagin too.
- Harbaugh
- Aiden
- Denard
- JJ post-Heisman and Natty this season
Denard, Hutch, Butt, Bush
Butt Bush
Based on how things are going - it reminded me of a scene from "Jaws". In the following scene - the phrase - "You're going to need a bigger boat." So, I'm optimistic that phrase will apply to the Michigan version of Mount Rushmore.
Here's the link to the scene from Jaws: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I91DJZKRxs.
Long (for being the best OL who survived a house fire, wasn't a POS & never posterized by Clowney).
Denard (for being the greatest college offense talent most of us have ever seen)
Moody (did he finish as the all-time leading scorer in the history of UM football, or only the modern era?)
And, of course, Mr Harbaugh.
Nick Sheridan
Justin Feagin
Nolan Ulizio
Derrick Green
haskins
bell
hutch
corum
moody (oh that's five .... it is a hard list to keep at four). i give cade serious consideration and fear he could beat us this year given the chance. if that happens then does it increase or decrease his value in M history?
harbaugh needs to win a title to get his head chiseled. a dubious honor
mount rushmore lists ok by me as a neosimpsonian. the idea of counterbalancing or even replacing the great mistakes, even if they were viewed as laudable at the time, of american history sounds good.
