Superstition OT No Politics: Obama's Bracket has Michigan Final Four
Bad news everyone. Obama's famously-bad-at-predicting-the-final-four bracket has Michigan to the Final Four. Enjoy our Sweet Sixteen exit.
On the bright side, he has Illinois losing in the championship, so you can pencil them in for a round 2 upset.
His daughter is a student at Michigan. I'm sure that's the basis for this.
EDIT: His Elite Eight is also all the 1 and 2 seeds minus Alabama and his Final Four is just the 1 seeds.

Chalk never holds in this tournament. If you find yourself selecting all the 1's and 2's, well, you aren't applying any logic. Sounds like he has a turrible bracket based on name recognition and lack of time to have actually watched the teams involved (which, coincidentally, would also conflict my bracket, were I to have one...). He gone lose his money.

Au contraire, my friend. Picking all 1 seeds is probably the most logic-based decision you could make. They reach the final four at double the rate of 2 seeds, and almost four times the rate of 3 seeds. I'm sure a person who just picks the 1 seeds all the time gets more final four entries correct over a long period of time than a person who picks and chooses among other teams. Here's a good way to test it: do you get 40% of your final four picks right in your brackets? Because if you just picked chalk, that's what you would be getting.
The reasons not to just pick chalk are not because chalk is illogical. Instead it's (1) just picking chalk is no fun, and (2) while picking chalk is a good way to do well in a pool, it's probably not a good way to win the pool, since you need to differentiate yourself from other brackets and probably be the one person backing a surprisingly successful team or two in order to win. And since usually the only rewards in a pool are for finishing in the top few, it's worth it to take risks, even though that means your overall expected point total is lower than it would be if you just picked chalk.

I agree. Except for the logic part.
It confounds me how logic applies at all to such an infinitely variable and ramshackle structure as the NCAA tournament bracket.
Picking chalk using the fancystats is the single best way to win your bracket. Obama may not be using the fancystats, but what he's doing isn't illogical at all.

Do his children still have to get Secret Service protection?
I couldn't imagine having to deal with that in college.
March 18th, 2021 at 11:30 AM ^
Not any more. They got the 6 month post and that’s it. Only if they opted in for it
secret service eh?
Who cares about Obama?
Who filled out Biden's bracket for him?
Thanks Obama!

If you like your bracket, you can keep your bracket.

This won't get enough upvotes.
I think we need to use Dwyane Wade as a control group. He picked us to win it all. How has he done in the past?

What about Donald Trump's bracket?
March 18th, 2021 at 10:03 AM ^
its tremendous, like no one has ever seen before. you know it is......
March 18th, 2021 at 10:06 AM ^
If you count all LEGAL wins, he’ll have the best bracket by a tremendous landslide!
March 18th, 2021 at 10:10 AM ^
There is going to be collusion by the other loser teams. Bigly.
He knows it. I know it. And so do you.

There will be a "massive dump" of illegal brackets being submitted at 3am Saturday.
Mike Lindell is planning a documentary about it.
March 18th, 2021 at 10:27 AM ^
"When we all went to bed, our picks were winning bigly. But when we woke up the next morning we discover the other teams had "found" a bunch of points in the second half?? FRAUD!"
March 18th, 2021 at 12:05 PM ^
Clearly, those were illegal points. My attorney will be holding a press conference at the Four Seasons in Indianapolis.
Later, at the Four Seasons Diner in east Indy...

Yuge and beautiful.
March 18th, 2021 at 10:13 AM ^
It'll be a BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT bracket that will be released in two weeks.
March 18th, 2021 at 10:50 AM ^
I would love to release my bracket, I really would, but it is being audited right now, so I can't.
March 18th, 2021 at 11:09 AM ^
I thought that was his 2015 bracket
March 18th, 2021 at 10:39 AM ^
Many people are saying its a beautiful bracket, maybe the best bracket that has been picked, some people are saying. They said to me, we should have asked you to pick our brackets
March 18th, 2021 at 10:50 AM ^
The only way his bracket loses is if everyone else cheated.
March 18th, 2021 at 10:56 AM ^
Trump wants all the winning brackets named after him, even though he had nothing to do with them.
March 18th, 2021 at 12:28 PM ^
One thing's for sure, he doesn't have Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan or Penn State going very far.
March 18th, 2021 at 10:14 AM ^
FWIW, Keith Jackson has Michigan winning it all in his bracket.
March 18th, 2021 at 10:18 AM ^
All one seeds in the final four and Gonzaga winning it all? Boring.
March 18th, 2021 at 10:28 AM ^
But seriously, a pretty chalk FF. Him picking Ohio to make the S16 is a bit of a stretch, but that's a bit interesting at least.

This gif made me lol. For real.
March 18th, 2021 at 10:42 AM ^
Eh, I feel like O always picks a tame bracket. I recall other years his bracket was a lot of chalk, not a lot of madness - come on Barry O! But, I'm psyched he picked Michigan and I imagine, with his daughter at U of M and his Chicago background, he's a huge Juwan Howard fan.

In other news, Biden has Pepperdine winning it all.
March 18th, 2021 at 11:30 AM ^
or was it Delaware State University?
March 18th, 2021 at 11:58 AM ^
President Biden picked “That team you know that one team with the guy”
March 18th, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
Biden is going with the CCP.
Biden plagiarized the Obama bracket/ picks

Please don't jinx us.
I know there is alot of doom and gloomers on here after the Livers injury, but UM to the FF is still a very reasonable position to take with the potential matchups in the region. Of all the teams in the region I would still give UM the best odds to reach the FF, though they are not as high as they were with Livers. Honestly on paper it looks like a pretty chalky type of tournament to me with the matchups overall, with probably all 1 or 2 seeds in the FF.
