MAC Championship Game Thread - CMU vs Miami (OH) 12pm ET ESPN2 Ford Field
If you didn't know there is a Michigan team playing for a championship vs...an Ohio team! Coach McElwain (no longer associated with sharks humping or anything nefarious) has done a great job of revitalizing CMU.
Have a few alums on the board (including me) who are pumped for this game!
FIRE UP THOSE OHIO REDHAWK BASTARDS CHIPS!

I completely checked out of football around 2:30 last Saturday... When did this game stop happening on Friday?

Woot nice series there

Stupid fake
December 7th, 2019 at 1:14 PM ^
Yeah - CMU literally GIFTED Miami 3 points there.
Still not the worst fake punt in Ford Field history. Back in the 2017 Motor City Bowl, I remember NIU doing a fake punt on 4th and 18 from their own 11. It didn't work. Duke got a very easy 7 points.

I should have bought tickets to this game really regret not going now
December 7th, 2019 at 1:29 PM ^
I went to the 2006 & 2007 title games - among others - the MAC title game is usually a good football game.
Fire Up Chips! I dated and married (briefly) a Chipp-ette back in that mid-2000s era. I still root for CMU football, at a distance of 1000+ miles away now.

Mike Dana would be playing for a conference champioship if he would have stayed at CMU.
December 7th, 2019 at 2:07 PM ^
Gotta wonder if he regrets it

slight thread jack. watching some of the FCS playoffs. james madison is beating monmouth 28-21, and they have only played 3 minutes of the second quarter. some fun stuff there.
December 7th, 2019 at 2:18 PM ^
You have a connection with one of these schools?
December 7th, 2019 at 2:25 PM ^
no connection beyond being a football fan and thinking that my 3 middle sons have a fair chance of playing at that level.
December 7th, 2019 at 2:39 PM ^
How could you encourage your kids to make their college decision based in playing FCS football ?? I have no kids, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable with that at all if it ever comes about. Blows my mind people would choose to play a sport with a 0.01% chance of getting paid someday, over the best academic situation.
December 7th, 2019 at 2:57 PM ^
gucci, not sure how you got that take. my 4 oldest sons all play football and absolutely love the game. one is playing in college now. the next has no other greater desire than to do that and is being recruited accordingly. i suspect the next two, those twins in that avatar, will also have choices about football. it will be their decision, in consultation with mrs. XM and myself, where they want to go to school with academics, faith and football being the main criterion.
December 7th, 2019 at 5:17 PM ^
I don’t think it’s logical to play a sport in college if it means going to a not so great school (unless professional sports are a semi realistic possibility). So if my kids ever had the option to play FCS football, I would recommend (not demand) against it. Hell, I would recommend against playing MAC football.
December 7th, 2019 at 9:32 PM ^
i didn't say that or imply that. education > athletics, but athletics are a factor in decision making for my kids who all want to play college sports.

This is a really, ahem, not a smart take. On a level with your tweeting of 'croots...
