Freep article on Duncan Robinson revealing what it’s like to be coached by Juwan
In short - he loves how Juwan develops players.
I see thread upvoting is back. And it actually works!
Nice find, OP. I'm legitimately excited about this hire. A lot to prove, but the more I hear about Juwan as a coach he seems almost universally well liked by, respected by, and impactful upon the development of all the players that have spoken up and have experience working with him.
None of this guarantees success but I think he ticks a lot of the right boxes to recruit good players and develop their skills. Hopefully that all translates to wins and banners, but I think his floor is quite a bit higher than I would have thought when this process started.
I know there's always some curve fitting with data points like this, where the unknown looms large and there will not be any way to begin to know for months, but I agree with your whole general sentiment here.
It is an exciting hire. I hope he does a great job.
maybe when his career is over he can come back and coach the Beilein shooting tecniques under JH
So we have Duncan to vouch for Juwan, but we should have another former Heat player that could have a potential impact: Derrick Walton. I would seem that Walton would be quite available to Franz Wagner these days.
Walton tweeted out congratulations and said he'd see him soon.
My favorite gif of Duncan because of Mo's attempt to steal the moment.

12 minute segment of Jalen also adding his input. This is so great for the program.
Jalen's suit game, which is usually on point, is especially so on this momentous day.
Theyre talking nonstop about this hire on ESPN today.
Just watched Jalen Rose say that the Fab 5 will without a doubt be at games. Jalen said he will be at as many games as possible and even practices to help out Juwan
Exciting times.
We need a new banner already.
Imagine the overdose of swagger we will have available
Guys coached by Beilein know good coaches.
I hope we get an assistant that can help out on with the guards a little bit, then all my anxieties will go down a bit. Super excited for this hire.
He's been around for a long time, so it seems pretty likely that he has a bunch of suitable contacts. His contract seems somewhat low ($2M to start), so hopefully the AD is willing to spend money on good assistants.
Deandre Haynes has been helping guards the past couple years, correct? I would think he might be good to keep around along with Yaklich.
Saddi seems the most expendable. He coached bigs, mostly be default, and Juwan is certainly more qualified to do that (but also not such a big time suck as coaching defense, which requires a ton of opponent scouting and game-planning which he should definitely delegate to Yaklich).
Then bring in an offensive minded guy that runs a modern system and you're good to go.
On the surprise Dak and Dunc podcast last week, Robinson was somewhat reserved in giving his opinion on Howard, probably since it wasn't clear that he would get the job at that point and JH was still his coach, didn't want to say anything that would appear to be a conflict. But what he did say was praise, and it's good that he was able to expand on that now.
What I'd really like to know is his opinion of Howard vs. Yaklich. He won't be able to say anything about that publicly, at least while Juwan is coach, but Duncan is the one player in the world coached by both Yak and Howard. I'm sure that's the reason for his hesitation to say much last week.
I’m stoked for juwan.
nice to hear Duncan's point of view... sounds promising
The fact that Duncan Robinson plays for the Miami Heat is still just so amazing to me...
