SIAP: Wojciechowski E:60 on Biff Poggi
Searched and checked the board going back 3 days. The article was posted this morning, so I think I'm in the clear. Apologies if not.
A good article about Biff Poggi resurrecting a HS football program in Baltimore, after leaving U-M (and Gilman before that). Apparently, none of the other schools in their league will play them.
Just finished. Solid read. Hope for his and St. France's continued success against opponents worthy of playing them.
Those schools should be ashamed , especially Gilman
Good read.
Thanks for posting. Great article and good on Poggi. This could be season 6 of the Wire
"Ask who's having a better financial year, him or his former boss, Jim Harbaugh (who earned a reported $7 million last year), and the 57-year-old Poggi will laugh and respond without hesitation, 'Me, of course.'" I had no idea that was the situation while he was here
So Henry was supposed to be a stud d-lineman and I never got why he went over to play fullback. He's at least practicing in the NFL, but if he has a back-up plan for money I can see wanting to a position where you get to touch the ball a little more. (Though I'd prefer D-line.)
He wasn't panning out as a stud d-lineman
One issue I have is with the dismissing of claims of an unfair all-start team of transfers as racist. Look at the figures - the team is 90-member as a no-cut sport. In 2016 they had 23 transfers. You would assume kids you were taking as transfers would be of pretty good quality (but hey, maybe that is wrong). That's an entire starting line-up of desirable transfers built upon an existing base. I think it's reasonable to have issue with that.
These kids seem to face horrible issues and LOTS of racism everyday - I just don't like a puff job that totally dismisses a reasonable argument.
