The only positive is we can pin them at the 25. They haven't shown me they can drive any better than we can. Only difference is that they finished once. Side note: How do all our interceptions turn into completions? It's aggravating to say the least.

Wide open....always play to win. Finishing second in a two team event is not something to strive for.

MGoBloggers are incredibly skilled at criticizing a play call after they see it not work.

Every play, just throw at deep. We have done well throwing down the field today, and It couldn't be worse than running the read option on 1st down and play action on 2nd.
November 2nd, 2013 at 5:20 PM ^
That's why they are getting so many sacks - they know we can't run our RB's.
Maybe we need to spread it out and try shorter passes?
November 2nd, 2013 at 8:33 PM ^
Too many drops and misfires, and those shorter passes aren't Gardner's specialty. You have to be awfully efficient to dink and dunk your way 80 yards. A pick or a couple of drops and all that work goes for naught.

Football fans are idiots. The second anything goes wrong, it's demonize the coaches, demonize the players, demonize the refs, demonize the announcers. If you're looking for intelligent discussion, this is neither the time nor place.

I just wish Gardner would get rid of the ball quicker. Maybe have shorter routes.

I agree. The O-line got humiliated. Devin got abused. It wasn't the OC. It was the O line.

Are you a football fan? If so, you are an admitted idiot and we have no reason to trust you.

Yea more Funchess. Only complaint from my amateur ass is the Devin keep on 3rd and short in the red zone after the Chesson bomb. Theyr'e stout. Sh*ts gonna be tough.
Can we do some crossing routes that Sparty does, will that work against the Sparty defense? Otherwise yea, do what Notre Dame did and take a few more shots vertical, especially with Funchess.

Gardner's playing really well today. We need to throw more quick slants and screens.
November 2nd, 2013 at 5:17 PM ^
more quick passes at the LOS / bubble screens or versions of them. Then pump fake that and throw back to the other side deep.

At some point maybe a long throw when he appears covered, let Funchess go get it.
November 2nd, 2013 at 5:18 PM ^
I don't think play action will work. They are sending the back side straight to the QB on PA instead of following the QB (I think). That would mean a counter should work. So there, a counter is what I'd do.
November 2nd, 2013 at 5:19 PM ^
I'd like to see more quick throws. Slants, screens, outs, etc. Just get the ball down field in a hurry. Can't keep going backwards. Quick hits, then hit em deep.

...it was a good idea.
It'd be nice if the eventual failure of that good idea led to some appreciation for the fact that sometimes an OC's job is hard, and sometimes it's impossible. But hell no, let's fire someone.

A big stand, 3 and out here to open the half would be great, take some good field position and and unleash some fury. Keep your heads up guys, they're doing okay out there. Not great, but okay. Go Blue.

We are facing the number 1 D in the country and we are only down 7 at the break. Except for that last drive, our D is playing lights out - only 29 rushing yds given up to RB's, and Cook is 10/18.
We have moved the ball in spots - just shot ourselves in the foot with a bad snap, the 3rd and short fail, etc.
It's just a tight game, and we are very much in it. We need the D to keep shutting them down and see if Borges can find the right tweaks for the second stanza...

It's been said...stop with the silly PA so much. Use it, but not as a staple. Dink and dunk your way down the field with short passes.
When those safeties move up, then go PA pass with the deep ball and double moves on the outside.

Had this been tried?
November 2nd, 2013 at 5:42 PM ^
There's realy not much you CAN do... this offensive line just isn't experienced enough to handle their defense, I'm afraid.
Is what it is, this is a tough game to win especially in East Lansing when you get zero calls. If that wasn't offensive pass interference I've never seen it..
