Da'Shawn Hand interview (quickie burger really helped him)

quickie tasted like warmed over vomit

Wouldn't go that far, but it always tasted like they didn't use salt on the meat and it lacked flavor.

He ate at Quickie Burger and the Gandy Dancer, that's quite the study in contrasts.
September 12th, 2013 at 10:55 PM ^
Seems like a laid back dude. He and Saban should hit it off just ducky.

Yelling is one thing, but you have to consider what the point of it is. Muschamp can yell all he wants, but does it accomplish anything? I can't remember the last time (or ever) I saw Hoke or Mattison yell at players, even after major screw-ups. I actually kind of like Muschamp, I'm not trying to say he's a bad guy or a bad coach, but sideline flip-outs probably are, at best, not helping. At worst, they're a source for bad morale and eroded confidence.

I was watching the TCU vs. Texas Tech game, and the commentators talked about Kliff Kingsbury's response to a couple bad plays. One HUGE one was when the running back dropped the ball at the half-yard line as he strolled into the endzone. Kingsbury was very calm and even-keeled, and the broadcasters mentioned that he could be flipping out, but screaming in guys' faces doesn't really accomplish anything.
I generally agree with that principle. If guys screw up on the field, it's typically not because they're trying to screw up. They want to be better but don't really understand how. Now if it's an attitude problem, then that's a different story.

Bo wrote in his namesake book (co-authored by Mitch Albom) that he would never yell at a player who just screwed up a play. Why bother? was his thought. They already know they screwed up. They feel bad enough. You don't have to make them feel worse.
Solid coaching wisdom from the man himself.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that is #88 Clay Burton.... If you watch the gif, the guy behind them who turns and around and looks at them is #8 Trey Burton....his brother. I believe he is shaking his head.

How can you be on the corridor of Pizza Bob's, BTB, Mr Spots, and Quickie Burger and opt for the latter?
September 12th, 2013 at 11:44 PM ^
I would
September 13th, 2013 at 12:35 AM ^
Yeah what's with the Quickie hate? I liked it better than Blimpy. YEAH I SAID IT.
September 13th, 2013 at 9:08 AM ^
Blind taste test between Quickie Burger, Blimpy Burger, and Five Guys would result in the latter blowing the other two out of the water. Just because "it's the only one! it's not a chain!" does not somehow make their product magical and great tasting.

Completely agree. In fact, for people I've brought to AA, generally people preferred quickie over blimpie.

Reminds me of...

Sounds like he really enjoyed himself. I like our chances. However, as a former Spot's employee, I wish he had gone two doors down and got himself a steak hoagie, onion rings, and a thick ol' chocolate shake.

/s aside, their shakes are all delicious. Also, a toast to you, who joined the same day as me but has roughly 100 times the points I do. I evidently need to step my game up on this site. I visit it every day as is.

I was an employee from roughly 2009 - 2011. Not sure if that fits your bill but yes they have shakes. I would actually go to Washtenaw Dairy to get ice cream when we ran out sometimes. Their shakes are the real deal.

Remembering a 1 am burger from a place with a big chested girl holding a beer while riding a hamburger and forgetting the name of one of the nicest and best restaurants in Ann Arbor in the Gandy Dancer...sounds about right.
And what he should have done was get a shake from Bobs, hoagie from Spots, and fries w/sauce from Quickie

To all you people hating on Quickie, clearly you've never had a good night, been looking for food at 3am and been between Quickie and BTB. Given those choices, Quickie is the place to be (partially because they serve alcholol, which of course Hand didn't have because he's underage /s). Quicke dirty fries are delicious, and anyone who disagrees is just wrong.
