No Graham? Bummer.
Also - do you think that any of the freshmen on the O-line will be able to move into the starting lineup next year?

o-line will be completely different with zirbel, barnum, oneill, ferrara, etc fighting for spots
i wouldnt be surprised if jb fitz moves into one of the lb spots either
threet is an open question at best. forcier?

If Threet isn't the starting QB next season, it will be a very bad indication of our level of success in 2009. True freshman QBs are not a solution, rather a problem.
And the reason O'Neill hasn't been mentioned is that our OT play has been decent, while our OG and OC play has been poor. Rushing a true freshman into the OL starting lineup is a problem. Let the become physically ready to play and learn how to work together with the other members of the unit.

Here ya go, I found Brians definition:
"Tacopants"? Tacopants is Jason Avant's eleven-foot tall imaginary friend. Chad Henne spent much of 2005 hitting him between the numbers, which are unfortunately eight feet off the ground and made of dreams. Blessed with infinite eligibility and the ability to sneak on and off the field without alerting the referees -- made of dreams, remember -- Tacopants has taken a lesser role in the offense as Henne matures but still pops up at inopportune times. The term has its genesis in this post.

Regardless of Threet as a long-term solution, the short/mid term solution is currently on the roster. A true freshman is not a solution.
If Threet has been the second coming of Drew Henson during spring practice, we would have still been chasing every top drawer QB in the country. Here is our depth chart at QB:
1. Threet 2. Sheridan 3. Cone 4. Feagin
Two of those guys will NEVER see a meaningful snap at QB. One is a walk on. That leaves you with one viable QB. No coach is ever going to let the future of his team hinge on one QB. So we were going to be chasing QBs all over the country.

may be a solution if they are better than the guy who keeps losing snaps to a walk-on

look, i have no idea how good any of the frosh will be. some guys are ready, some arent, and some get asked to play because there just arent better options. it's silly to say "a true freshman is not a solution" because sometimes they are (especially when the guys you have kinda stink). not that often, but sometimes.
i think we've seen pretty strong indications over the last 6 months or so that the coaches don't view their current options too favorably. and given the performances so far, i can see why.
given that, i think it's fairly plausible that the coaches hand over the reigns sooner rather than later, ready or not.

This is exactly what my NCAA09 roster looks like for the second year of the Rod era. Although, I should point out I switched to Forcier by the 5th game and will likely stick for the rest of the year. Also put Fitzgerald in as the MIKE, although it doesn't factor in that much since I play primarily nickel. Woolfolk's been solid as the 5th DB.

bsb -- Chitown has better summarized my thoughts than I had. The belief that a true freshman QB will be better than a second year starter, while not impossible, is highly unlikely.
And the issue that I have seen plagues most young QBs is decision making. Which is where Threet has been very good this year.

This is nice and all, but we're 3 games into the 2008 season. There's over 300 days before the next summer practices start. In that time, we have 9 more weeks of football season, and (hopefully) bowl practices.
Speculation on OL development really wont get you anywhere, especially since you haven't watched them in drills or in games. A lot can change between now and then.
That, and if you really want to obsess, go play 5 years of dynasty on NCAA and tell us how many NTs we win, and whether or not Tate Forcier and Shavodrick Beaver are the first ever co-heisman winners.

2011 Starting Lineup:
QB: Tate Forcier
RB: Sam McGuffie
FB: Aligash Moonstar*
WR: Stonum
WR: McNeal
WR: Odoms
WR: IMADEITUP

So you're saying that McGuffie and Stonum won't declare early?
Also: I disagree with the Moonstar redshirt.
