This would make my week.
March 18th, 2012 at 11:41 AM ^
he's not in a rush.
March 18th, 2012 at 11:28 AM ^
And Poggi would be a major get if he ends up commiting. But, this is certainly a good sign.

Me thinks he pulls the triigger
March 18th, 2012 at 11:39 AM ^
I am fairly convinced Poggi joins team 134 today. Hearing good things from a couple of people who I certainly trust. Would LOVE to have him as a wolverine. Now, we wait..

Rob Lowe?

You've only been a member for 2 months and have posted a total of 16 times but I can't help but believe you.
March 18th, 2012 at 12:00 PM ^
Gotta start somewhere. And going forward, I will never make posts to be "that guy" who thinks he knows everything ahead of the game.
I do have a very good feeling about Poggi though. And if he doesn't commit today, I'd still be amazed if his recruitment enters the month of May.
March 18th, 2012 at 12:36 PM ^
Willing to BKfinest that?
I hope you realize you're putting your entire reputation on the line here. If you're wrong, you will become a laughing stock around here. Best of luck to you, sir.
Nothing.But.10ve has 17 mgopoints. It's not much on the line.
I don't think I'm saying anything outlandish. I'm not making posts saying I know his fathers ex-highschool girlfriend or even saying he will no doubt commit for that matter. I just have a good feeling he could pull the trigger before today is history. And if he doesn't, I think its inevitable he will join this class at some point in the near future. Plus, I can care less about my reputation. That is the last reason why i made an account on this site.
Also, I wasn't around for BKfinest, but from what I've heard, he was and still is a legend on MGoBlog. Kinda. And who knows, maybe I'm him. Couldn't stay away from the game. Uh oh.
March 18th, 2012 at 11:07 PM ^
...THE PARTY ROOM was right about Smith and he/she is still the laughing stock of the MGoCommunity.
March 18th, 2012 at 11:39 AM ^
It's actually his 3rd visit, and he's on campus now for the second day of his 3rd visit. It's a good sign, but I don't get the impression that he will comit.

Has he taken 2 or 3 visits to any other schools?
March 18th, 2012 at 11:47 AM ^
No/ I believe it was on Tremendous stating that he has visited all of jis purported leaders, but, aside from us, he has visited none of them multiple times. Also, he's a smart kid. He can do the math as well as anyone. whatever his plans were, it takes no stretch of the imagination to see him accelerating his schedule. Search your feelings, Poggi, you know them to be Blue!
March 18th, 2012 at 11:51 AM ^
We're not close to having another DE/DT commit.
March 18th, 2012 at 12:00 PM ^
That can change quickly. The lack of spots on the roster should create a sense of urgency for any player at any position, if they think Ann Arbor is where they want to be.
March 18th, 2012 at 12:05 PM ^
They're going to want at least 1 DT in the class. The list of possible DTs is shorter than any other position. If I were him, I'd feel pretty comfortable that there'd be a spot for me a few months from now until I started to hear something to suggest otherwise.
March 18th, 2012 at 12:39 PM ^
I suppose other O-Linemen had the same thought about our last O-Line spot. Then Kugler gobbled it up wandering by on his way to a school he was supposed to favor.
The math is simple: with no attrition, we have room for 20 players. We have 16. The coaches expressed a desire to get as many as two more LBs, two WRs, a third TE...that's already more than 20, without any D-Linemen. This is a squeeze which effects every position.
More specifically, we have D-Linemen visiting as early as the Spring Game. If one of them pulls a Kugler and pulls the trigger, his space could be gone. It's not as if we've turned away talent because more touted prospects were waiting in the wings.
So assume what you want.
March 18th, 2012 at 12:48 PM ^
Except it's pretty widely assumed that they will take 22-24, though even then I see a bit of a squeeze with the players they lead for.
March 18th, 2012 at 12:55 PM ^
I think 22 is universally agreed on, wth a lot of people suggesting 24 after Bell left. As was mentioned on the front page, football teams don't go 10 months without losing a player.
I think we slow down around 20 though. We're saving some flex spots for going after 5 guys the coaches are really high on. So what matters in terms of Poggi is if he was told "we'll save you a spot" or if he was told "we're taking X DTs and when we have X your offer is no longer commitable".
There will be attrition.
I would bet good money that we'd far prefer to take two DTs than a third TE... figure we got Funchess, Williams, Hill, and Butt... but are still super thin at DT despite Pipkins and Godin and Henry.
Hope we land both Poggi and Vanderdoes.
I wouldn't think recruits at any position would feel comfortable about spots staying open, especially past the spring game. Disclaimer for Cravens and Levenberry, who seem to be the only players recruited for their positions.
He has visited a number of schools multiple times including Tennessee, Maryland, and Alabama. This video was on here a few days ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqPlwIQz4YY I do however share your optimism on this young man.
March 18th, 2012 at 11:46 AM ^
I would say Poggi is in the top 3 on the wish list. A top talent at a position of need.
I really love that these players that are being recruited hard seem to be great athletes and great kids.

My powers of deduction tell me that he is hanging out with Green and Morris. Anybody else out there today? Can we confirm that Morris has a cowboy hat on?
March 18th, 2012 at 11:57 AM ^
Did Orndoff visit yesterday or is he out there today? Anyone know?
He was there yesterday for practice.
March 18th, 2012 at 12:50 PM ^
That Shane only stayed for practice yesterday and then went home. I don't think he's there right now.

I've said this before, but for me, it never gets old.
How Poggi's last name is pronounced (Po-Jee) is slang in Korean for vagina.
tee hee (yes, I'm 10)
March 18th, 2012 at 12:30 PM ^
Oh really? CRex, can you confirm??
March 18th, 2012 at 12:59 PM ^
Boji (pronounced po-ji) is the Korean slang term for female sexual organs. It's considered extremely rude to use though, much more so than pussy would be in America. Never heard anyone pronounce Poggi though, so not sure if they match up.
March 18th, 2012 at 12:59 PM ^
yes. not used in polite conversation, more like teenagers talking about what to 'hit'.
fwiw that was the context I learned the word.
when it's preceded by "dumb"
or "fat".
Someone on here a few months ago from the Maryland area said that Poggi was pronounced like 'Po-Gee'.
Could be wrong, my memory is going to hell.
March 18th, 2012 at 12:57 PM ^
That isn't how his last name is pronounced.
I was talking to a cute girl the other day who was originally from the Philippines, and she told me I was "pogi"- which she said meant, in Tagalog, that I was handsome. Since she was flirting with me, I wanted to believe what she was saying. However, it's very possible that she was just calling me a vagina instead.
Cool story, bro?...not to me if it turns out she wasn't flirting with me, but was calling out my manhood instead.

I was really excited to hear about his interest in Michigan, but haven't heard anything since. Poggi would be a great get too, but Vanderdoes is scary good.
Vanderdoes and/or Poggi would be big comitments. Poggi looks like a real good athlete for someone his size and seems to also be a pretty heady player.

Isaac
Gedeon
Hargroves
Levenberry
We have to get at least 3 of these IMO
Or else what?
