Michael Cox to UMass
Good luck to him.
get the chance to play right away? Dont we play them in 2012?
Sept 15 and he is eligible to play right away.
That'll be interesting for him especially. Must be a strange feeling going back to the Big House and being on the visitor's sideline.
That sounds like one of the most depressing things in the world.
He came back with BGSU in 2010 as a grad student and promptly lost by 41 points, 65-21.
EDIT: Beaten in quality and quantity by Erik_in_Dayton.
Being buddies with one of the linebackers, going out there, and getting absolutely annihilated by the guy. Talk about embarrassing/humbling. He's not in Ann Arbor anymore, so to speak.
I took it the opposite way. I think it's great that he has a chance to actually get some playing time (which he wasn't going to get here), play against his old friends and show them what he's capable of and actually do all of this in the big house. I actually hope he gets a few yards against us. TD's not so much.
I used to play senior hockey, quit for a year, and then came back to another team. I used to love playing against them. There was always quite a bit of fun spirited trash talking when we were on the ice.
I remember Bryan Wright (K for BGSU) and Johnny Sears (CB for EMU) doing it. There must have been others. Definitely strange to see former Wolverines go up against the team.
EDIT: I forgot Mr. Plow, so there's another.

Congrats and good luck to him in his future career.
Brian was wrong; Mike Cox will probably still get one more huge run in the Big House during a MAC-level beatdown.
I sure hope he doesn't. Letting up a big run for UMass would not bode well for our 2012 defense.
I think you missed the "in a MAC-level blowout" part of the quote. If he's busting off big runs at the same time of the game he was at M, they'll likely be down by 30 or more.
Best of luck to him. Saw the writing on the wall.
Physically gifted athelete. Hopefully the light can on for him before his career ends.
Those glowing reports were always followed by, "if he could only grasp the playbook."
Hope he has a big year for UMass.
I now have a second-favorite team!
You going to be unbearable if he has a good game aren’t you?
I already am.
That's why we love ya, ya big lug ;-)
It's hard to forget how much Magnus loves Mike Cox.
I don't know whether to be disgusted or not.
TMI! NSFSRK!!!!!
What are you talking about? He gained yards every time he touched the ball.
Besides, the only guy who had significant yardage last year was a fifth year senior, who is on his way out the door. Nobody else had even 200 yards rushing. So the opportunity is there.
And if he ran laterally, he wouldn't have lost any yards. He'd be moving directly to the left or right. The only way he could have lost yards if he moved backwards in any direction.
over at RCMB regarding Hoke running off players and opening spots so we can oversign. The lone M poster trying to use logic and reason (His first mistake) keeps getting rolled over. I am not sure how you can rate someone a troll over there when 95% of that board are trolls.
(And yes I KNOW I am asking for it going over there,,,,but it was in my history so it was the fastest way to the ND board to see their feelings after the Tee Shepard defection. Answer btw is 50% want Neal to play CB since they are "loaded" at WR.)
RCMB is the slimiest, most parasite-infested dungpool on the whole entire Internet. Let nothing you see in that pit of mentally challenged animals and Axe-soaked Brosephs surprise you.
You'll never find a more wretched hive...
Those guys are not exactly subjective. Some of them think our game next year at Minny is a toss-up. Sure, we could lose, but there is no way that is a 50-50 game.
and prove them wrong!
He's from the area of UMass. There aren't many places he could transfer in that area and still play FBS ball. Most kids transfer to closer to home (NJ's Brandon Smith to Temple, OH's Boren to Ohio State, OH's Bryan Wright to Bowling Green, OH's Mixon to Kent State, etc.). His other options would be, what? Boston College? UConn?
I think you're creating drama where there doesn't need to be.
Maybe he thinks he can show the coaches what they missed out on. Plus if he thinks he can get a shot at the NFL, doing well against Michigan, the team he transfered from, would be a big deal. He spent 4 years at Michigan, never got serious playing time, and will get his degree. I have no problem with him transferring to a team Michigan plays as long as it's not a rival.
UMass is no Ohio State. And football aside, Cox is now a graduate of the University of Michigan. An alumnus like many of us here at Mgoblog. Is there even any evidence that Boren ever passed a class in Ann Arbor?
correctly. It could be one of his best choices for grad school.
Go show those northeastern types what you can do, Mike. Have a great career at UMass!
When did UMASS join the MAC?
I checked the MAC website to see what teams were listed and UMASS wasn't on there. Apparently I pulled the trigger too early on the snark.
Welcome home to the Bay State, Mr. Cox. Best of luck to you.
What sucks about this is we're scheduling teams that are happy to take one-year options on guys that just aren't seeing the field for us. I have no problem with Mike Cox seeking greener pastures and I wish him luck.
This does, however, point again to the lack of respect D. Brandon has for his patsies er...his home fans...and the quality of game for which we spend our money.
Weren't there whisperings about him having some kind of attitude problem? He posted something to the effect of "Bye bye Dick Rod" on his Facebook page back when RR was let go...
