OT-Wings win #22 at home in a Row
Datsyuk scores with 5.8 seconds left (Zetterberg and Lidstrom with assists). Pretty good game to watch, was switching between Wings and UM game all night, both great games and both nervous games in the second period. Doesn't matter, good guys won in both.
Go Blue and Go Wings!
By the way, any other Wings fan feel dirty when they wear red?

is amazing. Big props to Joey Macdonald as well, he made some big stops. Just wish that FSN has shown the game live, instead of the Pistons.
February 17th, 2012 at 10:17 PM ^
It was on FSD+. Or freeredwings.tv, which I used with U-M on the telly.
@OP - I don't feel dirty wearing red, because it's for the Red Wings.
February 17th, 2012 at 10:22 PM ^
Maize N Blue, I had no idea about freeredwings.tv. I will keep that in mind for the future, seeing as I don't get FSD+.

Forgot to mention Joey Mac played a hell of a game.
I have been wondering why FSN Detroit shows the Pistons over the Wings. Meaning the Wings get moved to FSN Detroit +. I live in Toledo and FSN D+ is in non-HD, and i have always thought non-HD sport on a HD TV look worse on an HDTV than on a non HDTV. I would think that the Wings currently have a larger viewship (is that a word?) than the Pistons do right now.

Amazing how beer can change a person's vocabulary.

that last goal was awesome, the way it happened, the passes.

GO WINGS

That goal was very much "Datsyukian" even for Datsyuk.
(Thanks, Seth...)

Datsyuk is simply unbelievable. Fantastic job by Lidstrom and Zetterberg to give Datsyuk that last chance.

Going to be sad to Joey Mac sent back down to Grand Rapids either tomorrow or Sunday.
I understand it is probaly better to have him tto continue to play in GR, over sitting the bench behind Howard in Detroit for the rest of the season. The kid has played out of his mind the past 6 starts and the last two periods in Edmonton. At least he will be back up as the #2 during the playoffs.
February 17th, 2012 at 10:38 PM ^
I wouldn't call him a kid, he's 32. Yeah, that surprised me too. It's terrific to see him playing so well.
February 18th, 2012 at 4:45 AM ^
I'd prefer Joey Mac backing up Howard from what we've seen this season. I appreciate all that Conklin did for us a couple years ago, but more then half his starts this season have been duds.
IMHO, the 2nd and first half of the 3rd period was terrible hockey to watch. I really dont enjoy teams that play hockey like Nashville, with 2 forcheckers and the constant turnovers in the neutral zone going back and forth. Detroit needed to stop dumping and chasing the puck so much cause Rinni is one of the best puck handling goalies in the league and he just kept throwing it up to his D and they'd clear the zone quickly.
The last 5 mins was fun to watch, and Datsyuk's goal was one of the best i've seen this year!

Hard to send Joey down the way he's playing. If they do, maybe they call him back for the playoffs as I'd much rather have him backing up Howard than that sieve Conklin.
February 18th, 2012 at 9:22 AM ^
Conklin is on a one-way contract, meaning that if he is sent down he has to clear waivers before playing for GR. I am not sure if any team would pick Conklin up, since he has been playing like shit. I could see a Central Division Rival picking him up just to throw off Holland's plan.
The other reason to send Joey Mac down instead is that he will continue to get playing time in GR, over sitting on the bench behind Howard for the rest of the regular season. I would much rather see Joey Mac continue to stay somewhat sharp in GR, over going cold in Dettroit.
I don't see Holland taking this big of a risk, just not his style.

There are times that I just won't wear red, e.g. ohio week. But when I'm cheering for the wings, I'm cheering for the wings.
But man, this streak has been something. Ken, Mickey, and the crew were dead on when they mentioned the playoff feel and the nervousness in the crowd. What an awesome fucking finish. Pav is superhuman.

freeredwings.tv is awesome

Great stuff! Go Wings! (I don't feel dirty wearing red when it's Red Wings related...not remotely).
February 17th, 2012 at 10:34 PM ^
I guess it must just be me that feels dirty. I guess as long as it says Wings or has the logo it is ok.
Might also have to do with the factt i live in the shit hole of Ohio.

That is all.
EDIT: I lied. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Okay. NOW that is all.

My Pavel Datsyuk coolstorybro: I'm in a keeper fantasy league that's been going strong for 10 years now. The first season was '01-02. During the playoffs I watched Datsyuk do some fucking ridiculous Datsyuk thing that led to a goal against the Blues, and immediately got up from my chair and fired off a draft-pick-for-Datsyuk trade offer to the guy who had him. Which was accepted. So for the last decade I've had the pleasure of not only watching Datsyuk be Datsyuk and enjoying it for the Wings' sake, but also knowing that every awesome thing he does (in the regular season) is another little boost for my fantasy team, too. Like tonight, I was thinking "wooo GWG for meeeee".
February 17th, 2012 at 11:55 PM ^
a few years back i was fortunate enough to have the 6 or 7 pick in the 1st round of a new keeper league. 1st round was pavel and 2nd round was hank. this irritated pretty much the rest of the 10 team league that had 8 wings fans participating.

Game was on the NHL network in SW Florida. JR'nick says Wings will not lose again at home this season. www.todorojadirecta.com/ if Veetle shuts down. It will also get you access to all NHL games,

Great win, but I agree with the OP re: White Wings sweaters >>>>>>>>> Red Wings sweaters
February 18th, 2012 at 7:41 AM ^
I wish the NHL would go back to white home sweaters and color away sweaters. I get tired of seeing Red vs White all the time at the Joe.

It's good camouflage in some parts of America. Who's going to remember another guy on the street with a red jacket with or without a block O stiched into the left breast?
February 18th, 2012 at 8:49 AM ^
The wearing of red is most definitely geographic. I don't feel dirty wearing red as long as it has the Red Wings logo on it. But living in St Louis, where their team is called the "Blues"... color me conflicted. AND their WS winning team's colors are red...
Wait. What?

for a Meechigan fan, but wearing scarlett it totally different.

Go 'Hawks! I don't care about the recent losing streak, man. The playoffs are a whole 'nother animal. It should be an exciting match in a few weeks.
February 18th, 2012 at 7:37 AM ^
and the Hawks are only 4 points ahead of ninth place team. I wouldn't be considering the Hawks a lock for the playoffs quite yet, especially with their record in the last 10.
