To all the Marvel Zombies out there that I may have offended.
January 20th, 2012 at 2:46 PM ^
I think it's supposed to be a spoof on the Tebow mania, not really to say that Brady = JC. That's my take anyway. I'm not offended. I'm also not offended by Polish jokes so take my opinion for what it's worth.
January 20th, 2012 at 3:05 PM ^
i know 2 people from poland. one is in med school, the other is a very successful computer engineer. dumb pole jokes are ruined for me.
January 20th, 2012 at 3:16 PM ^
Thanks, now I feel like I'm perpetuating the stereotype. Tell your friends I'm sorry.
January 20th, 2012 at 3:24 PM ^
After visiting Poland this summer, the only stereotype I have is that the women are gorgeous there.
January 20th, 2012 at 3:35 PM ^
Please don't tell me they all look like Joanna Krupa. I must visit the motherland.
January 20th, 2012 at 3:54 PM ^
I'm at work so I'm afraid to google Joanna Krupa, however having been there twice there are a large proportion of tall, slender, beautiful women there. Lots of blonds too :)
January 20th, 2012 at 4:03 PM ^
to put this in a football analogy, my opinion is that poland's roster is almost completely made up of 4 stars, and plenty of them are high 4 stars. there are only a couple 5 stars, but there are similarly few 3 stars and below. poland has great depth. also, germany is new mexico state in this analogy.
January 20th, 2012 at 4:11 PM ^
I think Germany's issue is a talent retention thing. I've met plenty of lovely German ladies in my time. But not a single one of them was actually in Germany.
January 20th, 2012 at 4:33 PM ^
so perhaps i should change the analogy from new mexico state to FAU. plenty of local talent around, they just can't keep it.
January 20th, 2012 at 5:36 PM ^
January 20th, 2012 at 5:01 PM ^
so I can neither agree nor disagree with you. However, I feel analogies like this are too few and far between. Well done.
Then next time I see my doctor re: my cholesterol panel, I want him to tell me "Your total cholesterol is definitely a middle-of-the-road 4 star talent. But, I really think your HDL has the potential to be a true 5 star player."

it's not too funny when you take anything away from who Christ is. Neg me if you need, but I'm just sayin. I see the humor in the Denard photoshops on Touchdown Jesus, but it's not something that I personally find funny. Thanks for not trashing this guy too bad for being honest.
January 20th, 2012 at 4:13 PM ^
if you don't want your beliefs laughed at then don't have such funny beliefs!

January 20th, 2012 at 4:20 PM ^
I respect where you are coming from. Personally, I like to think of Jesus as having a sense of humor but it's certainly possible that he is righteously pissed off at this.

I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-shirt. 'Cause it says like, I wanna be formal but I’m here to party too.

I like to picture my Jesus singin' lead vocals or Lynard Skynard with like, big angel wings and an angel band. And I'm in the front row and I'm hammered drunk.

Just before the Giants-Pats heartbreaking EFFFUUUUU Eli Superbowl. I titled this "The Last Super Bowl?" as part of a video project spoof. I don't know if I saved the high-res print version, but one of the older assistant techs loved it and asked to take it home, saying "Brady will love this." I still don't know if Tom has seen it....http://i.imgur.com/XxCLL.jpg

I'm going to Rembrant and the face of Jesus tomorrow at the DIA, and if it's anything like this then i'll freaking love it!
January 21st, 2012 at 12:30 AM ^
So, I agree with those who think that the photoshopped Jesus is just a joke, and not worth getting offended over. I'm personally not offended. (although, I also am pretty "meh" about finding it funny.)
However . . . here's a question for those who are quick to throw out the "it's just a joke - lighten up - don't take things so seriously" line.
If you're consistent, that means it's ok for others to make jokes/photoshops in terms of race, (Black Brady? Indian Brady? Tom Obama Brady?) other religions (Allah Brady? Budda Brady? Ghandi Brady?) sexual preference (gay Brady? lesbian Brady?) gender (transgender Brady? Brady with boobs?) etc., etc., etc.
Where I get cynical is when someone says "lighten up" about something that doesn't matter to them, but then takes offense when something important to them is the butt of the joke.
Personally, I avoid gay jokes, or race jokes, or religious jokes, or sexist jokes. I don't want to offend others. But I suspect some of those who think Jesus Brady is funny would get pretty uptight pretty fast when their own ox was being gored.
January 21st, 2012 at 12:56 AM ^
White Christians do tend to get the short end of the stick in these here United States. Someone should do something about it.
January 21st, 2012 at 8:17 PM ^
What does Indian or Transgender Brady have to do with Jesus Brady? It's saying that Brady is amazing, like Jesus. Some of your examples work, and no, I don't really have a problem with Allah Brady, Ghandi Brady, Budda Brady, or Zeus Brady. And there have been so many Obama poster memes, I'm surprised there isn't a Brady one. The colors even match. The offenses, and the examples, don't match.
And if Brady had boobs he'd never leave the house.
January 23rd, 2012 at 12:06 PM ^
I wasn't sure I should respond at all since I laughed, but my comment went in the wrong place becasue I understood a comment that was made that offended a poster. I thought that your best dead nuts comment was "Where I get cynical is when someone says "lighten up" about something that doesn't matter to them, but then takes offense when something important to them is the butt of the joke. I must say I am the same way sometimes.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time for your well thought out post!
January 21st, 2012 at 4:43 AM ^
I think it's funny and even though I'm a Christian I don't find this offensive. Then again, I feel like everything should be fair game for humor. If you can't laugh at yourself or the things you believe in then how can you laugh at everyone else?
