Why is the Freep even bothering to report this?
4 arrests during U-M/EMU game
It was a quiet afternoon for law enforcement in Michigan Stadium, with just 4 arrests and 4 citations as the Wolverines beat the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 31-3.
University of Michigan Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Diane Brown said the arrests included 2 for minors in possession of alcohol, 1 for unlawful entry and 1 for violation of the controlled substances act.
Three of the citations were for alcohol in the stadium, and the other was for violation of stadium rules.
In addition, 25 people were ejected from the game — 9 for alcohol in the stadium, 7 for possessing someone else’s ID, 6 for violating stadium rules, and 3 for disorderly conduct.

So they are starting to crack down on using fake MCARDs for student tickets?
September 17th, 2011 at 9:58 PM ^
If I ever buy a student section ticket I just use my old MCard so I don't have to validate it. Is this no longer effective?

I would just photoshop a picture of my friends into my Mcard and print it out, paste it on a credit card, then slip it into an id carrier. Worked like a charm.

Posting about workarounds on a public forum is a horrible idea, you know.

The guy who lets me use his student section tickets/student ID is a thin caucasian male with blond hair just me. If you have a passable photo on the ID you should be good.

from people who run to message boards to share the article which brings it even more hits.

Slow news day. I'm quite surprised that out of over 110,343 people there were only 25 troublemakers (that got caught anyways)

I feel there are more important issues. Also, I feel like this happens at every stadium. This isn't news.

An incident/arrest report is published after every home game by a variety of media sources.

to compare and contrast to MSU in a few weeks?

Just wondering if it pertains to the most recent contest that ND participated in. And for the record, I very much enjoy your commentary on this here blog.

This is literally probably the standard DPS safety report released after every game day. It costs them nothing to copy and paste it with a leading paragraph probably an unpaid intern did it for them in about 5 minutes.
Any hits it brings make it profitbable.

Annarbor.com runs one of these articles after every game (today's is here), and I wouldn't be surprised if the Free Press does too. It's routine to publish these, and the papers have been doing this for years. What's the big deal?

'cuz they're jerks?

They're trying to discourage fans from going to Ann Arbor. You've got to think twice before entering such a dangrous environment.
Seriously, the Ann Arbor News has run those after every home game for many years. The Freep was just pointing out how few problems there were today. And they had actual facts to back that opinion up. We should all commend them for that at least.

because its a newspaper and they report on things. this is a thing. and its reporting it. also, it was a slow news day and theyve got space to fill. these arent the droids youre looking for. move along.

none of the ticket people seem to even check the pictures on the mcards

If they only caught 3 people with alcohol out of 109,000+ attendees today, either you have to wave your flask under the nose of a security guard and then puke on him in order to get caught, or kids these days are WAY better at concealment than we were.
