Was Will Campbell part of the mix?

backing up Martin.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:47 PM ^
What we've heard all summer is that the move to the 3-tech will really help Campbell because he'll see more one-on-one matchups (he's too tall to maintain leverage vs double teams)...now he's backup up Martin?
I hope that's just a notational thing in the same way that Gallon will never be used in the same way that the outside WR he backs up is.

jives with what Beavis posted.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:21 PM ^
can we use "sparkles"?
August 29th, 2011 at 12:27 PM ^
Or maybe jibes?
Though I do speak jive.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:30 PM ^
You don't speak jive?

I've been laughing so hard the last couple of weeks with the MGo Community my Boss just asked to see what I was looking at on the net!
Sorry, carry on.

by none other than Raback it himself
August 29th, 2011 at 12:46 PM ^
Actually he held off on officially Rabacking it. Looks like he should have.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:20 PM ^
so what happend with brink then?
August 29th, 2011 at 12:23 PM ^
must've been beaten out by heininger.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:20 PM ^
Surprising.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:26 PM ^
That's a bit of a depressing defensive 2-deep.
August 29th, 2011 at 1:00 PM ^
Martin/RVB/Roh have been assumed starters for a year. Demens/Gordon
Ryan the same, and Mike Jones asserting himself is no problem for me - that's been a weak/questionable spot for a while. The fact that Morgan is 4th is actually quite encouraging to me.
Gordon over Johnson is a bit of a surprise, but I think they're both good players.
Heininger/Brink isn't the greatest, but WH was a serviceable run stopper 2 years ago (wasn't he? I don't remember), and he's gotten bigger since then.

in which Michigan's defense was significantly improved involved some of Michigan's highly-touted-but-yet-to-perform recruits (Washington, Campbell, Robinson) taking a big step forward. Instead, none of them are starting, and we have a walk-on platoon at DE.
August 29th, 2011 at 2:44 PM ^
reasons for improvement:
- Woolfolk returns
- Avery has experience
- Roh not playing LB
- Jibreel Black no longer a true freshman
- Carvin Johnson not starting at OLB
- Gordon beats out Johnson at FS (I thought Carvin was pretty good)
- scheme / coaching
- actual blitz packages
- Cam Gordon much bigger than last year
- Full year of Demens
- Martin/RVB/Roh/Demens/Gordon/Kovacs/Avery/Floyd all return
Against the one negative, the loss of Mouton. We will improve significantly

How is this depressing? The coaches will play the best guys no matter if they are walk-ons or former 5-star scholarship players.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:27 PM ^
Well, let's hope our D staff can be like Nebraska's and turn these walk-ons into legitimate players. We're looking at 2 starting with a third looking to get serious PT. Really happy for all of them, but makes me a bit nervous.

Link is broken.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:38 PM ^
Yep, same here.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:39 PM ^
worked for me. repasted. try again.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:37 PM ^
i feel a lot better about Heininger over Brink if only from a weight perspective. still a walk on, but 30 lbs on the DL is a big deal.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:42 PM ^
Morgan is listed 4th at WLB behind Jones, Herron, and Hawthorne so he may be able to redshirt. Ryan has apparently changed his number to 90.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:51 PM ^
I'll be paying close attention to these two since we haven't seen them play much. Though I've heard that Mike Jones about to blow.
August 29th, 2011 at 12:55 PM ^
Cox is not listed, climb down the ladder Magnus....
August 29th, 2011 at 1:06 PM ^
Perhaps this means he really can't figure out the playbook and he didn't actually punt RichRod's dog through the uprights. The only question is when he starts tweeting how he hates "Brady Choke" like he did about "DickRod."

(This is where I'd embed the Mike Jones phone number video if I wasn't on a train. )
August 29th, 2011 at 1:17 PM ^
Jake Ryan #90 now
August 29th, 2011 at 1:21 PM ^
Ugghhh...I WANT to believe that good coaching and an extra year of experience will make these guys a surprise B1G contender, but...looks pretty thin in placs where it needs to be thick. This program has been leaking oil for the last six or seven years and it shows on this depth chart.
Damn, do you think Denard can win two games by himself? I actually think he can.
August 29th, 2011 at 2:20 PM ^
#2 OG, right & left - nice to see. Looks like he will def see the field this season.
GO BLUE!
August 29th, 2011 at 3:31 PM ^
just fyi, the unoffficial two-deep (under "useful stuff") has been updated to reflect the info above
August 29th, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
Kinda surprised Jerald Robinson isn't even on there with how much the coaches mentioned him.
