Sparty doing what Sparty does best:

Props to "His Dudeness" for letting me know about this -- seriously, he's still alive.

His Dudeness

I'm slightly disappointed there was no high-speed snowmobile chase involved.
Maybe they could have eluded the police by skiing off a cliff, only for giant parachutes bearing Dantonio's frowning visage to unfurl from their backpacks.

they wore the wrong damn ones....
Sparty is as Sparty does...

Here's the quote:
"Brian Linthicum, 23, a junior tight
How the F#$& is this Linthicum guy 23 years old and still a junior in college.
According to his bio, he will be a 5th year senior in the fall. 2007 - Freshman at Clemson. 2008 - sat out. 2009 - RS Soph. 2010 RS Jr.

Since it is the offseason, does that mean these violations count in the Fulmer Cup standings?
You can't spell MiScondUct without MSU...
March 11th, 2011 at 11:18 AM ^
Yes, these definitely count in the Fulmer Cup. Too bad there isn't a funny story with it as Orson/Spencer often assigns bonus points when the violations of the law are hilarious or particularly silly.
March 11th, 2011 at 12:02 PM ^
they were arrested wearing light blue and orange tuxedos and the assault was carried out with a cane.
Does subduing Linthicum with a stun gun count?

Unfortunately, it looks like Auburn has put Sparty playing catch up by a long ways.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:14 AM ^
First strikes don't count. One more offense, and both players will receive a disapproving head shake from Dantonio. Any more after that, and they will start to tempt the wrath* of the Dantonio Absolutely-zero-tolerance-after-the-first-few-offenses policy.
*For purposes of this policy, "wrath" means "players will be suspended for the entire time they are incarcerated."

Teflon Tressel himself
March 11th, 2011 at 12:50 PM ^
Funny how that code of punishment is only reserved for guys who he needs to win him games too. Spare part players aren't in need of molding and life lessons I guess.
Yeah these players are so screwed, when Dantonio high fives them it is really going to sting their hands.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:15 AM ^
They cannot let JT and OSU out due them in when it comes to NOOOOO!!! Another theory is Dantonio is just trying to take the heat off his friend.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:15 AM ^
Finally, the Fulmer Cup leader board just doesn't look right without Sparty.

No way man*, there would be like 3489573 replies by the end of the offseason. I want my Sparty crime updates near the top where I can find them.
*I realize you could be a woman, but it just doesn't sound so well when it's gender-neutral.
I am a dude lol, and you bring up a good point, but this way they clog up the board and I can't find the tressel talk
Haha. Classic. Taking pleasure in MSU having even more problems (even though I think this particular law is BS) and OSU possibly looking at finding a new coach, all while playing into the tournament in...21 minutes. Good week.

Dantonio's punishment will be forcing them to read, The Winners Manual: For the Game of Life !! by Jim Tressel.

This will be an unpopular post but the Bullough offense is overblown. How many people who have partied in college can honestly say that they have never had to run when a party was busted by the police. He was probably at a party that the police were called to and ran when they showed up.
As far as Linthicum, assault is obviously much more serious
March 11th, 2011 at 11:45 AM ^
I never ran while partying in college. Its best to take just the MIP rather than both the MIP and eluding police. In Ottawa county a MIP is a 200 dollar fine. A MIP plus eluding can be up to 1200 in fines plus a year in jail. Why run?
March 11th, 2011 at 11:55 AM ^
my question to you sir is how the hell do you know anything about ottawa county? it's one giant corn field. How do i know this, I'm one to the children of the corn.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:58 AM ^
I graduated from Hope College and received a MIP during my time there.

Sorry to hear you went to Calvin. May the future be brighter than the past.
March 11th, 2011 at 12:10 PM ^
Haha, I just wish I could talk some smack about basketball, or football for that matter, this year... Instead I just have to take it.
March 11th, 2011 at 12:14 PM ^
Yeah our football team has not been good for a couple of years. But it is hard to talk smack about that when you dont have a team of your own. Basketball team surprised this year after a slow start. Its still a two team basketball conference though, Hope and Calvin. Both in Mens and Womens.

I have two words for anyone treating this with anything other than a chuckle: Bennie Joppru.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:58 AM ^
Yeah, I didn't read much into the Bullough offense - kid with alcohol doesn't really strike me as anything except if he was driving. The assault, though, is another story. I'm sure Dantonio will blame it on UM somehow.
I partied in college and did my fair share of underage drinking. But i wasn't on the Football Team representing my University, my program and jeopardizing my future as a football player.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:28 AM ^
It's not "misconduct" to a Spartan football player, it's "adversity". It's a precious opportunity for Coach Dantonio to help mold, nay, FORGE a young man into a Spartan.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:39 AM ^
I'm just... *tear* so proud... of our boys... *whimper* for continuing to persevere through such intense persecution. I tell them every day... if you can't commit a misdemeanor, you don't belong on my team.
March 11th, 2011 at 11:53 AM ^
They will be suspended from March 10 through the day before Spring practice begins.
That'll teach 'em.
March 11th, 2011 at 12:03 PM ^
The wrath of the great diety Hoke is being felt far and wide. Picking up on a post from yesterday, since his arrival in AA, the cosmos has been restored to its natural order. Our BBall team - projected to be a cellar dweller - is on the cusp of making the tourney. We have completed a home and home sweep of Sparty - in BB. The deal that JT made with the Devil has been cancelled. Our FB team is being talked about with excitement. Charles Woodson won a Super Bowl ring. And, MSU is reverting back to their Sparty, No! form.
For his next trick, Hoke is going to make ND be the "big story" that Yahoo will be breaking over the summer. It is going to be epic.
March 11th, 2011 at 12:06 PM ^
that somebody is nosy enough to care about how they paid for spring break and suddenly a conspiracy emerges of drug running and Colorado Cartels and Spartan implosion, followed quickly by death penalty and it's all cuz a kid ran from the cops at a party
March 11th, 2011 at 12:12 PM ^
Well, the death penalty is the only thing that would keep their players off the field.
I already feel horrible about that joke.
March 11th, 2011 at 12:19 PM ^
Sparty couldn't stand OSU hogging the B1G criminal spotlight. Let's face it though, MSU really is the unquestioned leader in that category.
Do you think the hijinks of these two young rascals with cause Dantonio to give us one of his patented constipated, burns-when-I-pee, "I just took fourteen lithium pills" facial expressions?......God, I hope so.
March 11th, 2011 at 12:29 PM ^
....it is unpopular. Stupidity on the part of one shouldn't be ok just because lots of people are stupid in the same way.
Some of us are proof that underage drinking isn't simply a way of life.
March 11th, 2011 at 12:52 PM ^
I can't wait for the next cupdate on EDSBS
This proves once again, even a stringent zero tolerance policy can't stop boys from being boys.
