Good.  Would rather play at Husky Stadium against a (somewhat) depleted roster in Jedd's first year of what promises to be a multi-year makeover for the Huskies, and have a pretty darn good Oregon team at home.

Also, I don't think 'the people' generally remember Keith Jackson, except for us hardcore CFB old-ish timers.  The kids I work with now have no idea who he was.  They don't even remember Dick Enberg, and have never experienced Brent's "you are looking live..." call from his prime.

Hard to miss a guy that didn't play much last year.  Still harder to miss a guy that quit on his team for a couple of dollars and guaranteed playing time.  They guy decided (apparently) to get 70 snaps a game for a football backwater instead of 40 snaps/game for a legit National Championship contender.  Good for him.

But I'll reserve my available angst for missing Rod Moore...

"It may not directly relate to our careers but where else would I have learned about..."

Well, you can read books.  What's even better is that you can read books about the subjects that interest you.  I've learned more about astronomy, science, business, trading, world history, evolution, human evolution, etc, than I ever would have in a classroom.  And yeah, I chafe when someone asks why I don't have a degree.  I'm ~30 years into my career - a degree, for me, now, would be nothing but a yellowed piece of paper that would have no value whatsoever because everything I'd have learned in college is now obsolete.  And has been for decades.

I don't know that it matters for advertisers.  I mean, when multiple games are on, flipping between doesn't seem to get you away from any commercials.  It's like the commercial breaks are coordinated, when one game switches possession, so does the other - commercials for everyone!  It's uncanny...

So you actively chose to NOT watch the National Championship Game?  The one game that culminated a 3-year, 40-3 run as National Champions?  That one cathartic moment where it all paid off?

You chose not to watch that to save a couple of bucks?

My nephew played Taps for our Grandfather's funeral, complete with a full color guard and 21-gun salute for the WWII veteran.  How that kid got through Taps perfectly, without just losing it like the rest of us, gave me a new appreciation for the effort he puts into his music.

Yeah we all go through it, it just sucks more when it's your turn.  Glad you were able to get through it with your humor and outlook intact.

On one of those fishing trips a hundred years ago, when my brother and I were maybe 13-14, we laid down just below the campfire by the lake and watched the best light show I've ever seen.  It had to have lasted for 15-20 minutes.  It was vivid, colorful, awesome, and awe-inspiring.  I hope to watch my kid see it some day.  Our trip up a couple of years ago had nothing but mosquitoes.

Alas, it was rainy and overcast in No VA last night, and the plan is for more overcast tonight.

RIP Coach...

This is the exact situation…

This is the exact situation that Jim MF' Harbaugh would have responded to circa 2015-2017, and perhaps again in 2024.  In fact, when Smith said OSU doesn't need to go anywhere for spring practice because they have Columbus, Harbaugh welcomed him back.  Remember that Twitter shot - after UM had Spring Camp at IMG in Florida (which was awesome)?

These are the exact situations that Harbaugh fired off his best Tweets about - defending his program from bullshit aggression like this.  I've never seen anyone do anything like that before from Michigan.  Maybe Canham, perhaps Bo early on?  But nothing so direct that I remember.

And unfortunately I don't expect to see anything like it now, either.  Sherrone is too new to fire off replies to that from a C-suite level jackass.  Smith is beneath Ono's level.  And Warde won't do it.  So great, free shots taken against UM!

The only joke that made me…

The only joke that made me cringe was when the two guys (never heard of them before) compared Brady to Hitler, complete with a picture.  Hitler is still too soon, and the audience thought so, too.

Seriously?  LOL!!  That's …

Seriously?  LOL!!  That's "shitty and condescending"?  Dude, look in the mirror...  Your putting words where there aren't any.  You're also being a bit sensitive about internet comments.  Again, I relayed my experience with how subcontracts and prime Prog Mngrs usually work regarding key personnel decisions (YMMV).  I even said "kudos to Warde" for not shooting down the hire and gave him credit for getting Altuis onboard!  Apparently, you can't parse that post for what it is...

WTF are you even talking…

WTF are you even talking about?  My post here is doing nothing more than relaying my experience with key hires made by sub-contractors.  You made it a personal attack for some reason.

I am not a fan of Warde - you are correct on that count.  I believe he's a follower, rather than a leader, when in a room with his peers.  I don't believe he backs his coaches/programs as much as he could, or as much as other ADs do.  Instead of acting in a program's best interest, I believe he's content to do as little as possible.  He will appease authority rather than stand up for what's right when it's a hard stand.  I've also given him a LOT of credit for being a good administrator and running the UM AD from a business perspective - which makes it exceedingly difficult for Ono to get rid of him under whatever pretense.

But my post wasn't about any of that.  I'm not sure why you felt the need to make this a personal attack...

I mean, tall cotton sounds all soft and fluffy, but reality says that cotton plants are hard, thorny asshole-y plants that rip you apart.  Cotton picking machine (not to be confused with 'cotton-pickin' maize & blue heart' from Bob Ufer fame) tires are incredibly hard because the plant stems have been known to puncture tires.

Oof...  But LOL!

I don't think Warde had much…

I don't think Warde had much to do with this - she was hired by Altuis Mgmt.  Granted, Warde had something to do with signing Altruis as a NIL consultant, so there's that.  And he probably looked at her resume and signed off on it.  But I seriously doubt he was in on the search or interviews.  Just not (usually) the way key positions are filled by contractor's.  In my experience, the contractor finds and interviews candidates, then runs the resume / IV notes across the Prime's PM (Warde, in this case) for approval.  Probably also bring the candidate in to meet with the PM (Warde).

So kudos to Warde for not shooting her down?

What contract do players have today?  The NLI (National Letter of Intent) binds a kid to play at a certain school, per old-ish NCAA 'rules' that the Transfer Portal flouts every day.  In this particular case, though, the terms of the NLI have changed - the coach the kid was recruited by, and possibly committed for, has left.  The conditions of the NLI as proffered by the school have changed.  Ergo, the kid should be free...
