Obviously an important part of the Beilein tenure, helping to keep things afloat before the Fresh Five and Trey Burke.
No way. Way too young.
RIP Darius! Wow, 33 is way too young. I wonder if it was cancer?
According to a random Twitter poster (so take this with a grain of salt), a car crash.
any info how?
RIP, Butterfly.
Butterfly : Shon Morris :: Fetch : Gretchen Wieners
It wasn’t Shon Morris. It was some other guy whose name I can’t remember. But I can picture him. He was much more excitable than Shon.
Figured it out. Tim Doyle.
I believe that was good old Tim "Argyle socks" Doyle
Seriously. Damn
One of my all time favorite players. Very sad.
Heartbreaking, many positive memories of him and was a pillar to building the program back up. Thoughts with his friends and family
So sad and way too young!
RIP Darius 🙏
Damn. Remember having some classes with him. That hits close to home.
When the Lakers drafted him in 2011, he moved in half a block away from me. I saw him once or twice, but I'm not the type to bother celebrities. Now I wish I had said hello.
He lived in Redondo before going to UofM, and it turns out, he went to the same middle school as my son. I'm shocked. This is so sad. RIP, Darius.
Rest in peace
Oh no, awful. Condolences to his family.
Terrible news. I just thought about him 2 days ago. I saw the name Darian Morris and a sign in sheet, and first glance thought it said Darius. RIP
Oh wow. Very sad news.
Far too young.
Extremely heartbreaking news. One of the first players to turn the tide for coach B.
Along with Daniel Horton, who preceded Morris and Bielien.
I don’t think Daniel Horton played for JB at all.
Yeah, before JB's time. But I feel like JB could have had a lot of success with those mid-2000s Amaker teams. I always thought there was a lot of talent there. They won the NIT in 2004 with a core of freshmen and sophomores (Horton, Harris, Sims, Hunter, etc.), and I remember being super excited for what the next couple of years would hold, but it just never came together...
Fuck. fuck fuck fuck. Just saw it on the Laker subreddit. RIP, that’s way too young
Oh man. That's so young. Especially for an athlete. Do they know what happened?
Was it not Morris who was the first big recruit we got to rise the program out of the basement? I think it was. He was a gamer and glad he played here. Anyway, RIP.
If you don't count manny Harris. But he was recruited originally by amaker.
Yup, he was the biggest recruit Beilein landed up to that point. The fact that he was from faraway Los Angeles, had a USC offer, and had no ties to Michigan makes it all the more noteworthy. And since it's Beilein we're talking about, we know his recruitment was completely above board, so he really took a leap of faith. RIP.
Damn. RIP.
Fuck. I feel old. How heartbreaking. So young.
Damn, terrible news. He was such a great player and managed to stay in the NBA for a few years.
So young. RIP Darius
This is very sad.
RIP Darius and condolences to your family, friends and loved ones.
This is sad news and my heart goes out to his family and friends.
"Get the f*** off my court." Legendary.
Sad to hear. Rest in peace
What awful and unexpected news. RIP Darius.
Sad.
RIP
RIP 🪦 DR, gone way to soon.
When he really got it working in Beilein's offense, he was a fantastic, extremely fluid player.
Wow, I can't believe this. He was such a fun player to watch. Never forget "GTFO my court."
RIP.
RIP. Met him several times on campus. Damn near got Duke/Coach K.
That really sucks. Way too young.
RIP Darius.
Woah. RIP man. Was the star when i started really watching.
Damn man. Sad day. :(
I will always appreciate his fondness for home court and the manner in which he invited Sparty to leave said court.
Terrible news.
RIP Mr. Morris
So awful to hear this news. He was the beginning of a great era at Crisler, and certainly a star in his own right. Condolences to his family.
Very sad news. Rest in Peace.
RIP Darius, you were the shining hope for Michigan & the Beilein era in my memory banks. The game against Duke in the tourney was such a heartbreaker, you played an amazing game. I expected you back in Ann Arbor, thought I'd get 1 more season to see you play in Maize & Blue - but you turned pro. Sad to see you go, but so thankful for the memories. Condolences to the Morris family.
RIP Darius
Omg. The hits keep coming today. I met his mom once. Awful news. Condolences to the family.
