Dubem Amene, a middle distance runner ont he UM track team, has qualified for the Paris Olympics on the Nigerian 4x400 team.

To my knowledge he’s the third person with UM ties who has qualified for this summer’s Olympics along with wrestlers Mason Parris and Adam Coon. Feel free to post anyone else who has qualified and what sport and country.

Me! Drinking beer while golfing and I’m representing Anytown, USA.

In all seriousness, I think there is a male gymnast that was trying to make the team, don’t remember who it was.

Olympic rooting interests are a lot like fantasy football. You have your favorite team that you root for (USA! USA! USA!) but then you get a guy on your fantasy team whom you also want to do well because it makes your fantasy team do well (Go Amene!).

Siobhan Haughey ('19) who is a two time Olympic silver medalist in women's swimming is also competing in Paris for Hong Kong. I'm not sure what the odds are but she has been in good form recently.
