MAILBAG: Submit your questions for Alex's piece
Haven't done a mailbag since January, so figured it's about time to do one again. Send in any questions you have on any topic you want answers to and I will do my best to answer as many as possible.
We open with East Carolina, a team that went 8-5 last year, including a 1 point loss to NC State. They seem like a notch above a cupcake opponent. How much should we fear the Pirates in our opener?
In your eyes what are the best and worst case scenarios for this upcoming season?
Not a question per se, just something IMO that would be very cool to see on my absolute favorite board... a countdown to 1000.
I've been looking forward to this since the 90's (just hoped I'd live long enough) and it's likely going to happen this year. Not that I don't like the Don't try to out-happy happy on the banner, but that would be a place to update weekly as we achieve a monumental sports milestone.
Just a thought.
What was lacking with our route concepts last year and how might the passing game change with Moore exclusively running the show?
What are our plans for replacing gfycat?
Do you have any thoughts on expansion and the future CFB landscape? /ducks
Why is an otter stealing surfboards to ride and/or eat it?
Are crop tops for men a new fashion statement? If so, how long before it's MGoObligatory?
Is OT OT? (I.e., is overtime off-topic?)
Crop tops? No.
Tube tops? Most definitely.
META: curious about this sites business model and its success versus Mlive, ESPN, the terrible excuse MSU has etc. the content is great. How has a huge sole sucking corporation not taken you guys over? Is it the unique fan base? On a side 11W is a close second in terms of content but is no where as cool as what we got here. Would be interested in the vision and history of decisions that made this what it is. Don’t want any insider stuff, high level narrative would be cool.
How bad will Richmond beat MSU?
I've heard several times - most recently from Sam Webb on the Roundtable last week - that JJ doesn't like certain plays or route concepts like the one he threw the second pick 6 on in the TCU game. I think Seth also said that was a "Cade not a JJ concept" or something. Could you explain what people are highlighting as a weakness in JJ's game that leads to these preferences? I don't have a great understanding of what specifically he does not do well that makes that play not the best type for him. Thanks.
Why hasn’t Harbaugh signed an extension yet? We heard a lot about it happening. Then, the chatter just stopped.
Is the staff just trolling me bringing up redshirting in almost every recruiting post despite it being almost completely irrelevant at this point?
Thank you. I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels this way. I think it’s just a habit after discussing it for years when it was relevant.
And for anyone who doesn't know, Alex does not like to do the hot take voice.
Every year there are assumptions on how the team will perform/ how the season will go among the general fan base that turns out to be completely wrong… what is a perceived strength most likely to turn into a disappointment? What weakness or shortcoming is most likely to positively surprise?
