Also...

OSU knew what plays we were running in 2021, the problem for them was it was Hassan Haskins thru Steele Chambers

You forgot to spit in his…

You forgot to spit in his face but if you refrained out of respect for your own saliva, I would understand

One other throwaway tidbit…

One other throwaway tidbit from that podcast: Chip Kelly wanted to trade away Brandon Graham but that was vetoed by their owner Jeffrey Laurie.  Even if you leave out our obvious M bias, that really speaks to what a pustulent taintwaffle Chip Kelly is.

Can't link right now since I am appropriately enough typing this while pooping, but...

The whole speech was a shit show, but the worst part was the speaker shilling for Bitcoin; he was likely tabbed because the current OSU president is in the board or directors for a Bitcoin company.  To me, that's a pretty terrible conflict of interest to have.  (It's pretty common knowledge that Ted Carter wasn't their first choice for president and they only had to hire him because Wexner wanted Kristina Johnson out since she wanted OSU, not Wexner, to run the hospital system. ) I'm all for LOL BUCKEYES but the thousands of students there deserve better than this absolute fucking clown show.

(Also if you really want secondhand cringe Google the YT short about the magic trick the OSU speaker did with Ted Carter)

It sucks Caitlyn Clark had to put up with this guy but if it got him suspended, that public service alone makes her statue-worthy

I'll see your Walter Mondale and raise you (up?) Cathy Guisewhite.

That said...yeah, I'm all for just getting someone you don't need to *vet too heavily and having them give a vanilla graduation speech, since odds are that if grads do remember your speech it likely wasn't for a good reason.

I actually felt a little bad…

I actually felt a little bad for the grads who had that foisted upon them, even without the tragic death that happened.  In the first and last case of me agreeing with the crowd in the Toilet Seat booing something, there’s a video of some students realizing he was about to shill for Bitcoin and you can hear them laugh-booing at how cringy it all was.

Obviously lolOSU, but they are a major school even if you leave out the football, and though they don’t pay commencement speakers, they still are a big enough name that they’ve gotten real people with Wikipedia entries to speak, like John Glenn, Obama and Boehner when they were POTUS and Speaker, respectively, as well as the CEOs of Apple and Intel.  So coming up with this choad (a self-described “social entrepreneur”) is almost as embarrassing as their secondary play vs Cornelius Johnson.

That’s the thing though - it…

That’s the thing though - it’s not that hard at all if you Ctrl-F but that technology is beyond the grasp of those unwashed incest fiends

At this prompting I just now read up on the whole KenDrake beef (on the BBC, no less!) so I wouldn't be completely out of the loop and now I'm a little exhausted

Draymond is an interesting…

Draymond is an interesting paradox as a player in that he somehow manages to be simultaneously both over AND underrated.  As a person he remains an unmitigated bag of shit.

Been a minute since I…

Been a minute since I watched the commentary tracks of the DVD (extended edition, natch), but IIRC Hill did not particularly enjoy knocking all those spears while holding his sword up on horseback because it wasn't fun for his elbow joint.

A SWORD DAY!! A RED DAY!…

A SWORD DAY!! A RED DAY!!

Even though he was a supporting role in an all-around excellent cast, he absolutely commanded the screen during his scenes.  If I ever die because an elephant knocked my warhorse on top of my sternum, I can only hope to do it with 1/1000th of the gravitas he showed.  As the kids say, Bernard Hill understood the assignment.

Fuck.  fuck fuck fuck.  Just…

Fuck.  fuck fuck fuck.  Just saw it on the Laker subreddit.  RIP, that’s way too young

We're all (usually) immune…

We're all (usually) immune to the stink of our own flatulence which is probably mostly a good thing but the extent to which the OSU inhales their own farts is borderline pathological

What are you talking about…

What are you talking about re:'stupid money'??

It's not like we in Ohio ever had an issue with energy companies bribing elected officials $60 million in kickbacks for bailout legislation at the taxpayers' expense

Also remember though that…

Also remember though that while Mgo UFRs generally rated Colson the lowest out of all or defensive starters, that is very much a function of its metric being tough on LBs and the other starters being really really really good.  Colson was still a very very good player.

I'm a gen Xer like many of…

I'm a gen Xer like many of us here and when I was in high school anything north of, I think, a 3.4 GPA was more than fine for Michigan (I am a Huron High grad, for reference). My best friend actually got admitted to U-M, no sweat, but was wait listed at UNC, which was his main target - from what I recall out-of-state admissions at top public schools are almost Ivy League levels of selective.

What's also crazy is how many AP credits the top candidates have now.  I had what was considered a hard schedule and took 4-5 AP classes and while it's probably an apples-to-oranges comparison, that'd be amateur hour today.

And it's not just 'elite' schools; obviously lolOSU but the days of just having to be conscious to be admitted there are long over, they're not a public Ivy but they're way more selective now and have been for a while.

Another reason to celebrate…

Another reason to celebrate the first of May (somewhat NSFW lyrics but why are you blaring music out loud at the office in the first place?)

oh!  That's a good shout. …

oh!  That's a good shout.  We were probably gonna beat MSU more often than not anyways, but Cooper was the right guy at the right time.  (Though he did elevate their recruiting profile in a way that Tressel probably benefitted from)

That’s the thing though -…

That’s the thing though - Tucker would’ve been there forever because of the KW3 game; but not even Walker is good enough to save Mel from his own right hand.

That, but also it burnished…

That, but also it burnished Ohio's coach John Groce enough to be hired by Illinois, which a) caused Caris Levert to decommit from OU and also b) tanked Illinois hoops for a few years

Although I would still of…

Although I would still of course convert both to wins if I could, aren't the 2012 NCAA upset to Ohio and the 2021 Kenneth Walker game pretty much locks for the best losses for basketball and football, respectively?

Also, while there is a heavy…

Also, while there is a heavy overlap between Browns and OSU fans, the former won't give a crap where you want to college if you ball out as a pro.  Case in point - Steve Everett kicked OSU's ass as our center but probably will never have to pay for a beer in Cleveland, especially after his bandana moment.

(Braylon, on the other hand...)

I've made my peace with…

I've made my peace with Denver being just flat out better. That said, with better coaching we'd at least have a chance at making it interesting.  In game 2, we were scorching them but had no counters to their counters (when Denver puts KCP on LeBron, KCP is a good defender but you at least have to try to leverage the size mismatch). Infuriating.

That said, Jokic was always going to be too much.  I think AD is the best defensive player in the league but even he can only contain Jokic at best.

It'll be interesting if it's Denver vs Boston.  As a Laker fan, I'm obviously rooting for whomever plays the Celtics. Boston has the better and deeper roster with 8 guys who are all very capable shooters and defenders, but they're no more than the sum of their parts, which is still really really good.  However, Jokic warps the game around him in a way that only the HoFamers do.

To Stover's credit, he did…

To Stover's credit, he did make some pretty heads-up plays in the 2023 game to partially makeup for getting posterized by Mikey in 2022.

There was unfortunately the 30 yd drag vs Rolder to set up their first TD, but he also (unlike Maerati Marg) handfought Barrett to prevent a likely INT and although I doubt he'd admit it, I suspect on the final Rod Moore drive, he made sure to drop a check down pass to him - which was smart because he woulda been tackled inbounds when they were out of timeouts.

I can see why he transferred…

I can see why he transferred. Given the level of returning talent Iowa has on offense (which to be fair includes himself), he would be a fool to do their dirty work

To be fair, the conference not suspending Frames Janklin for the @ Penn State game is pretty compelling proof that they went soft on us.

OSU fans holding out hope that the NCAA will hammer us for SignGate is about as pathetically desperate and even more acne-ridden than high-school me holding out hope that my crush would see me for the sweet and funny guy I am and go to prom with me instead of her steady boyfriend.

Yeah, I read Kareem's autobiography as a kid and distinctly remember his really liking Michigan's seriousness about academics and the overall vibe there (though to be fair UCLA is also no slouch academically)

The part he charitably left out was him recoiling at how antiquated our hoops facilities were.

Kobe was possibly a Wolverine in the same way that Brian Kelly was possibly our coach after Harbaugh

Just as with the actual…

Just as with the actual football program, 11W has a culture problem that starts at the top.  For whatever reason, a lot of people seem to think Ramzy, their blogrunner, is a great writer with worthwhile content, but as SignGate showed in spades he's ultimately nothing more than BUCKNUT_42069 with a Grammarly account.  People should remember that he's also the same guy who admitted that he, along with the rest of OSU's sycophantic mediasphere, "wrote around" Zach Smith being a shitty human being.

Al Borges was the talented…

Al Borges was the talented jam band guitarist who mostly noodled around aimlessly with boring 12-minute arpeggio wankfests but at least once a month he hit on a masterful melody and hook (i.e., 2013 ND and almost all of 2013 OSU) and when he was on, he was on

LOCKLYN: Well, just lots of talent in the room and just night and day from what I had to work with at That Team ut West.  I'm excited to be here and put all that behind me and show everyone that actually I'm also a sensitive and highly well-endowed lover who centers the pleasure of my partner first and foremost and I've heard nothing but praise from all of them.

While I understand the movement to no longer name teams after tribes who aren't really cool with it, it was a missed opportunity for NoDak to not rename their teams Siouxsiouxdio so they could get their band to play the iconic Phil Collins tune during timeouts

While it is idiotic to stand…

While it is idiotic to stand right at the edge of the Grand Canyon or other similar places, especially for a selfie, there's an odd part of our brains that subconsciously seeks out that danger, often described as the "call of the void" where a very small part of you very fleetingly ponders what it's be like to jump down.

To be clear, it's very very bad to do this and if you are ideating sustained thoughts about this you should seek help, but the passing idea of 'what if I did This Bad Thing's is a very normal and human impulse.
