Very questionable call in…

Very questionable call in the 3rd, 1-1 game and you're going to call unsportsmanlike conduct because you sprayed the goalies leg pad?

Great story - made my day…

Great story - made my day after a long day of work.  I took the misty eye challenge with the Herbert hug - lost badly.  That demonstrates the chemistry with this team as well as those who chose to return AND the 65 Corum flashed after the clinching TD.  If I had an 18 year old son with college football talent, that's the only scene I need to see - he's going to Michigan.

Since there was a penalty on…

Since there was a penalty on the play that was accepted, the pass is not considered a completed pass or incomplete pass.  It's odd, but statistically not considered a pass.

I enjoyed watching the game…

I enjoyed watching the game through PSU's eyes; did same after OSU beat down last year.  There is some pleasure hearing the other side talk about the talent and hard work on our side.

Appreciate the breakdown of…

Appreciate the breakdown of the two goalies - and indeed, much more to it than meets the eye.  My hope, if nothing else, is that we get consistent and solid goaltender play this year versus what we saw last year from Portillo.

Like many, I follow closely…

Like many, I follow closely UM baseball and softball.  Once they are out I casually follow baseball and then take in as much of the CWS as I can.  Went to Omaha once and had a great time - a great atmosphere for the game.  If you get opportunity, it's worth the trip even if UM or the Big Ten isn't represented.

Gotta disagree with you sir…

Gotta disagree with you sir... goaltending was a glaring weakness this past season.  At times fine, at times great, at times poor.  The inconsistency is difficult for a team because on a given night you don't know what is going to happen behind you in between the pipes.  Consistent, solid goaltending (this team didn't need greatness) gets UM to the finals this past year and potentially a national championship.  GET THE GOALIE COACH.

We talk a lot about how…

We talk a lot about how important adjustments are in football, but hockey is no different.  I'm particularly impressed with the changes made with our defense coming out of our own zone (far from perfect yet) in comparison to where we were mid-season.  That's good coaching.  This is a scary team to face - as long as we don't lay any eggs, we have a chance...

Agree completely.  We seem…

Agree completely.  We seem to go for long stretches of defensive complacency with the inevitable result of the puck in the back of our net.  If you re-watch the game at least two of UW's goals came immediately after we failed to clear our zone when we had clear/easy routes to do so.

Agree completely - it's the…

Agree completely - it's the first time this year I have seen them consistently rebound the basketball - including some offensive rebounds at the other end.

David and Alex - enjoy…

David and Alex - enjoyed listening to the podcast today.  I must say however, that you have the JLA horns to Yost story incorrect.  The horns in Yost are the same model as what The Joe had, but they are not the same ones.  They came from my son... contact me and I'll fill the blanks in :).

Thanks for the great article and the comments loaded with those incredible clips everyone!

3 out of 6 points at Minnesota; a very good weekend... but what could it have been :)

Ugh.... have to stay out of the penalty box

Agree completely - I thought…

Agree completely - I thought the 2nd one they reviewed (resulted in a 2 minute minor) was much worse than the first one (5 minute major and game misconduct).

I thought we had some…

I thought we had some excellent stretches possession and good scoring chances - I think it was more of an even game than reported above, but understand the perspective.  Officials screwed Minnesota out of a goal in the 1st period with a quick whistle and then returned the favor in OT against us with an even quicker whistle.  I agree with the comment that Minnesota owes us - tonight would be nice but I have low expectations.

Portillo was solid but I was quite disappointed with the tying goal from distance; that's a save he needs to make if we're going to be an elite team.

Not a terrible first period,…

Not a terrible first period, but penalties are going to be our undoing.  5 on 5 fairly even.

We are so hard to watch…

We are so hard to watch sometimes...

If you've played sports long…

If you've played sports long enough, you will likely appreciate what the calm demeaner of a leader will do for the rest of the team; it's infectious.  When everyone in that huddle can relax and play like it's a backyard football game, it becomes very powerful.

Attended the Saturday MSU…

Attended the Saturday MSU game last weekend - a few things stuck out:

Portillo does not appear injured, just fighting the puck.  On several occasions it was as if he couldn't wait for the puck to come to him, he was lunging at it and literally punching it away instead of catching or controlling it better (which is what I recall led to the only MSU goal with 5 sec to go).  He clearly is not comfortable right now.

We have many, many good looks at the net but are unable to find the back of the net.  Yeah, MSU's goalie is very good, but we have snipers capable of beating him more than we did this weekend.  Maybe more puck-luck will come in the 2nd half of the season.  :)

Agree completely - we've…

Agree completely - we've been quite spoiled with Moody, not sure what next year brings, but I'll worry about that next year.

I have to believe Oluwatimi…

I have to believe Oluwatimi improved his NFL draft stock by coming to UM for one final year... that should bode well for future transfers into the program - Come here, to this big stage, and advance your future opportunities.

Jim Harbaugh is simply doing…

Jim Harbaugh is simply doing what he saw when he played at UM in the 80's.  Bo and his staff were very good at making those fine adjustments at half time.  The 1986 Fiesta Bowl against Nebraska would be a good example.  Trailing at halftime by 11, UM stormed back to win that game going away... UM made changes, NB did not, we win.

We seem to play to the level…

We seem to play to the level of our competition... let's do that next week as well.

You'll all be in our prayers…

You'll all be in our prayers Pastor - know that all is in the Lord's plan.  Let the BLUE know if you have any needs we can meet beyond what you've requested.

According to Google, we are…

According to Google, we are 83-66-5 all time, including last nights game.  It doesn't feel like it though!

Yes - the Peacock stream was…

Yes - the Peacock stream was not very good; seemed we were watching from 20 miles away.  It did, however, fit the frustrating theme of the game.

Can't watch this replay…

Can't watch this replay enough...

It's exciting to think about…

It's exciting to think about what this team could do in the NCAA playoffs.  To see the team playing at a high level without their elite players (except Hughes of course) speaks to the depth on this team.

Not seeing things Mi Sooner…

Not seeing things Mi Sooner.... I can't say the officiating was bad last night, but they certainly left some calls on the ice - in particular interference.  Maybe they felt sorry for sparty.

Fun game to watch last night…

Fun game to watch last night… just when you thought PSU was going to make a game of it, a big goal in response and we never let them of the mat.

Did anyone catch that block…

Did anyone catch that block Haskins leveled on that DE to put him out of the game for a few plays?  Best hit of the year, check out 2nd and 10 with 8:01 left in the 3rd.

Taking the garbage out will…

Taking the garbage out will never be the same...

While admittedly the foul…

While admittedly the foul hardly approached game misconduct penalty, the officials apparently draw a line when the face-mask is GRABBED... on the other hand a good old-fashioned hockey-stinky-glove face wash happens ALL THE TIME... if the fingers extend and grab/turn, apparently it goes from hockey fun to a hockey felony.

Little puck luck, poor…

Little puck luck, poor officiating and on the road... pretty good weekend for a young team to come away with 5 of 6 possible points.  Officiating seemed quite slanted - that never-seen-before penalty on the face off late in the 3rd topped it off; he fell on to the puck because he was TRIPPED

Gosh that was enjoyable…

Gosh that was enjoyable watching Sunday's game... I don't know if I've ever seen a Michigan team FLY AROUND like that.  And of course, potentially one of the best teams we've had in a long time and you can't go watch them play.

Speed in space or LOST in…

Speed in space or LOST in space?

Isn't it wonderful to be…

Isn't it wonderful to be relevant again?  To use "Michigan" and "Big 10 Champs" in the same sentence?!

There's a more people

There's a more people suffering from CFS and fibromyalgia than you know... I've watched my wife suffer with both conditions for many years.  It's great to see the increased research going on and the fact that the negative stigma (it's all in your head, get off your ass!) of these diseases is fading away.  I wish you well in your fight against the effects that come with these diseases - devour all of the material you can out there as many in our medical community will know less about it than you do!
