While we were happy mostly happy with the Howard hire when it first happened, let’s not forget other the uninspiring names he was considering. Moore was a layup - we all have high hopes but that seemed predetermined. The baseball coach didn’t have anyone jumping for joy. A coaching search with warde is far from a sure thing

This sucks. He was the one I thought we had a realistic chance at if JJ leaves and would’ve been a good fit. Not sure if UM kicked the tires.  So much untapped potential, he has already shown some nice flashes.

Michigan was really interested in him out of HS and we all knew something had to give at the Texas QB situation. I never thought I see the day when a high-ish profile QB transfer goes to Duke when there are seemingly other options on the table.

Although I spent a month in the hole because of it, I’m glad I said it. One because he WAS being obtuse, and two I realized it was never getting better and the warden would never let me out from under his thumb - I had to plan my exit strategy. This ended up perfectly for me AND the warden.

You’re right, they (only 3!?!?!? of them - travesty!) are gold but the one with Michigans own Jeff Daniels, when talking about his new movie:

”so you have a new movie coming out”

“yeah, the butchers wife with Demi Moore”

“Demi Moore…. You know shes married to Bruce Willis ….. did you ever see diehard?”

“yeah”

“Member when he had to cross all that broken glass with he is bare feet? That was awesome”

Then later in the episode they start talking about the terminator when a caller is the previous week’s caller,  when Arnold was on. Actually me commenting on it, reminiscing on the skit, makes me feel like I’m playing the Farley role now

I mean this whole charade is complete BS and I, for one was happy when Michigan was playing “outside the rules” a little because it is one of the the biggest open secrets that the perennial top teams do this at a minimum. It signified that Michigan, under Harbaugh, was serious about competing for national championships in this new era and trying to even the playing field with the SEC ….. but I still love the idea of playing the annual contests against OSU, MSU, etc. That has to mean something. Some of the traditions we have mean a lot and I would hate for it to stop.. That’s the college football I love and while the landscape is changing (and I am in favor of it) the B10 Conference traditional contests are the last thing we have to hold on to. Again, the B10 is treating and handling this like a complete shit show, but I guess I’m willing to put up with it to not leave the B10.

while I don’t think that Michigan would ever leave the B10, I don’t even want to speak it into existence.

The narrative of “why would…

The narrative of “why would John do this to Jim” is ludicrous. When the MacDonald hire was first announced it was with the commentary that he was being groomed to be a DC a in the NFL a in a few years. Him reaching back to someone who he knows, trusts and is obviously a fan is should be a surprise to no one. Maybe it’s a few years sooner than expected, but expected nonetheless. How is this not a conversation that John and Jim already had …. Like “hey he’s good and I’m sure I’ll be knocking back on your door to get him back if Wink leaves”. This is part of the reason Clink was named to a elevated Defensive position. He would probably take over if MacDonald leaves.

This is certainly positive…

This is certainly positive news and I tend to believe that we will be getting the 2021 version of Harbaugh moving forward (and not the few years prior). If this news is true, I am glad that this is over….. for this year. While the “threat” of the NFL has always loomed since he took the job (I was thinking he would only stay for about 5 years initially) this seems to quell some of the concerns. Fact remains that if he is successful as we want him to be the possibility of this happening (wether real or perceived) will loom, however it appears that he leveraged this into something that can ensure him the most level playing field he can at Michigan, which I’m thankful for. We are better off today than we were yesterday

I haven't given much…

I haven't given much credence to any of the Harbaugh rumors to the NFL, since we hear them every year and (except last, which ironically i would've been happy to have him leave), but Miami just fired Brian Flores ...... Miami is owned by UM grad and multi billionaire Stephen Ross .... who tried to lure Harbaugh in the past, who would give harbaugh all that he wants (complete personnel control, ownership that will let him do what he wants). This is the one that has me worried .....

Not sure his stock would be…

Not sure his stock would be higher than it is right now. Real chance that he wouldn’t start next year and this was the most viable option. Happy he rebounded from a disastrous season (like most of the team) and kudos to him and the coaching staff to put him in the best position to succeed but this is not really surprisin

Cousin is a huge Michigan…

Cousin is a huge Michigan fan. It was NYD 1987 and he was glued to the TV at the party watching Michigan play ASU in the Rose Bowl. Watching him hang on every play and explode when Michigan did something remotely positive set the template on how to react for the rest of my life to this football team. As we all know, they lost the game but every detail is still etched in my mind from that day. Started as a huge fan that day and it has only grown since.

First game in person was the 1992 Minnesota game. We murdered them by about 50 points, a pretty standard for when those 2 teams met in that era.

Most memorable was the 1993 OSU game. We were unranked and they were undefeated…..and absolutely took them to the woodshed, 28-0. This was the game that cemented, for me, the adage to “throw the records out”. It’s also the reason why I, unfortunately, think/hope/pray that we have a fighting chance in the game each year. It has been brutal.

Agreed. This reeks of a university of getting out of a horrible contract and not surprising at all. As we all remember, Nebraska was one of the schools wanting to play and even having explority discussions on breaking from the B10 to have out of conference games in the event they canceled the season

Honestly, how is anyone…

Honestly, how is anyone surprised by this? I’m sure he’ll end up being a good to great player that we may have a chance within the future, the the reality is we are not on that same field as the others recruiting him (with the odd exception of Tennessee, because, well …. Tennessee). Take care of business this year and we are squarely back in the mix for recruits like this again.

It’s has been so clear that…

It’s has been so clear that the only play is to add the West coast, PAC12 teams. Wether it’s 2, 4, or 6 teams this fits almost all the criteria that Delaney laid out in the past that (and warren should follow now). Gives the broadest reach, most $$$ and most (if not all) have the AAU requirement. If Kansas is part of that, good, but should not come at the expense of the PAC12.
