We lost a bunch of key players and I am a bit concerned with the secondary play. Very quick, but they lack game experience. Michigan will have to have a balanced passing attack to keep our secondary in check. Should be a good game.

I especially like how you included part II. of the data. Returning starters are so hard to measure, because it does not take into account all of the returning contributing players. Interesting to see how Bama is one of the lowest teams in terms of returning starters, but yet one of the highest in regards to contributing players.
I know that it is a cliche to say that, but the flip side to the story is how the offense plays into that factor.
In 2011, Alabama dominated time of possession. Every single game Bama had won the T.O.P. battle at least through 3 quarters. The factors that came into play are obviously turn-over ratio and how quickly the offense scores or punts.
Alabama is not a high risk team when it comes to offense. The main philosophy is to drive it out, keep the opponent's defense on the field, and minimize turn-overs to a maximum (a little Sabanism for you).
This, in-turn, allows for a well rested defense as well as a balance offensive attack. Rich Rod was a high pace, high risk coach that ran a lot of no huddles and gave the ball back to the other offense extremely fast (even if Michigan scored). The downfall is that the defense suffered.
I feel that because of his philosophy, Rich Rod would not have been successful at Alabama.
To be honest I am not a huge fan of his. I like how he wins, but I believe there are some character issues with him. But, in order to win, I feel as if you have to break some unwritten rules.
Thank you for your comment. I was only following a story in a previous thread and thought it might be interesting to see comments from Michigan fans about the match-up with Alabama. I do not mean any harm, nor do I think Bama will blow out Michigan. From what I have seen with #16, we are going to have our hands full
A problem with Alabama's defense, IMO is that they try and go for the big hits and do not wrap up. We have always had problems with tougher backs. With the speed at LB we always seemed to contain the faster, smaller guys. Should be a great combination of speed (Robinson) and strength (Rawls).
I, for one, have no inside info on recruiting. I do know we battle Michigan for some recruits and you have won a couple of those "battles". It should be a great matchup on Sept 1.

I was googling this story and came across this website. I always wondered why ever team and fan is so concerend with SEC recruiting. It just always seams that the teams who play the best are always the ones who are the cheeters. Good luck on Sept 1st!
