Damn Biff. Setting up a strong first year in Charlotte.

Honestly would probably be mad if it was a random program and be suspicious, but can't be mad about this. Best of luck to Charlotte and Biff Poggi.

Passes the sniff test. There's a lot of talent in those top three teams. Just have to execute and hope the coaches put the players in a position to succeed.

Sounds bland, but it is what it is.

Man. That just sucks. Hate to see young men do dumb stuff and hate to see guns not respected.

Hope he gets on the right track and receives a punishment appropriate for the issue that allows him to learn but not ruin his life, especially in light of what Mazi Smith was given.

Over 1,000 people will share…

Over 1,000 people will share in the settlement! That's way more people than I thought would be affected - which comes out to less than $500K per person before any legal fees.

This is part of process, but I hope the university doesn't think writing a check is enough justice for this situation.

Maybe possible at the…

Maybe possible at the largest NIL schools. Would still be an issue for schools that don't have any athletes making 6 figs in NIL, which I imagine may be 90%+ of FBS schools, 99%+ of FCS schools, and all D2 schools.

In the rare situation in which this could apply, I see it more likely that we magically see NIL deals that exactly match tuition for walk-ons.

Jay Harbaugh is both a nepotism hire and a great coach. It's fair to say that he got an unfair shot at the coaching position, but it's not fair to say that he hasn't continued to earn the spot.

Congrats, Jay!

Awesome to see! Love to see Men and Women of Michigan Football succeed no matter where they are or what they are doing.

I really hope Hoke is enjoying his 2nd stint at SDSU - he deserves to be happy and to be in a position to succeed.

I guess Michigan is still "That Team Up North" to Georgia as well....

I don't want to be cynical, but the cynic in me does not view this well. Just pay the damn kids.

If it's about charity, I'm sure an $800k direct payment would be way more effective. If you want to pay the kids, pay the kids. If you want to help charity, help charity. But don't put a bow on a donkey and call it a horse.

Very happy to see this! Hope he's welcomed back with open arms if he gets a chance to visit during a football game when he's retired.

It was a risky…

It was a risky reconstruction for Harbaugh, but he's made up for it. I would definitely like to see more contracts in college football with lower base pay and higher bonuses.

It's been a weird week reacting to last week's game - a lot more of an emotional recovery that I could have anticipated.

Seeing this column and knowing that it's Friday reminds me that Michigan football is best consumed as an entertainment product. Glad to hear that you are feeling better and looking forward to more Michigan football!

I think we can go with …

I think we can go with "Michigander" for common folk and keep "Michiganian" as an Honorary Title.

For example, "The Honorable Michiganian Carol Hutchins".

The machine "pays" out every time, so I think it's for the novelty of winning of celebrating together. I'm sure its impact is minimum compared to going to college in Las Vegas.

That is a very fair point. In that situation, I would prefer him to not be here.

I was a student during the 4 years of his coaching. Definitely lost the support of the students in years 3 and 4, but in the handful of instances where I got to meet him, I really liked him.

Would love to see him come back on staff at Michigan in a non-head coach position. And I hope that if he comes back to Michigan Stadium in any capacity (either as a guest or coach), he is welcomed with a warm applause. Not for the accomplishments on the field, but as somebody who tried with all his heart. Very unfortunate that his efforts didn't pan out, but I cannot bring myself to ever boo the man.

According to theories of Perfect Information, the information about all companies should be perfectly encapsulated in their stock price. This is clearly just a theory as we can see it's not true.

There are a myriad of…

There are a myriad of possible reasons. Here are a few:

  • Detroit's population generally had a lot of underlying conditions, thus more susceptible to complications
  • Differences in culture and activity patterns necessarily lead to different spread patterns
  • There are 15,000 tests / M people in the U.S vs 9,000 test / M people in Sweden, so they perhaps have more asymptomatic carriers

A couple reason why we should be skeptical of the conclusion:

  • WHO says it's not impossible to catch the virus again, so herd immunity may not be effective
  • The long term effects and "second wave" data is still to come
  • When making these decisions, it's best to compare Michigan to a "what-if" scenario in Michigan should nothing had been done. In which case, most epidemiologists would say that the right course of action had been followed.

Personal favorite was 2016 Michigan State. My boss at the time was an MSU grad with season tickets. He couldn't go to the game and since I was the only Michigan grad at the company (small company), he offered me the tickets.

I was able to take my mom, my dad, and one of my younger cousins (it was his first Michigan game). Being able to talk trash while sitting in an MSU-heavy section knowing that nobody was going to bother your older parents or your (much more intimidating) cousin was amazing.

First off....it was Rutgers.

But, given that, I think today we saw a complete, diverse offense. I liked the way it looked. The difficulty (as always) is to be able to implement the idealized offense against non-ideal opponents.

As a note on Milton: his first throw was bad. Just not accurate. And then everything else was great to see from him. I think with extended playing time against better opponents we'll see more of the inaccurate throws that he had in high school. But he sure does look promising.

Can't want for the animorph of the offense into its final form!

Thanks for the work! I think these highlights really show the potential of the offense and where they currently fall short. Patterson has some frustrating misses, but I like the general passing scheme. This was a tough game in which Army took advantage of Michigan's mistakes. Cheering for Army to do well the rest of the season.

I was mostly coming form the angle that points 2-5 seem much more important to what we should expect on the field. Point 1 seems more trivia.

Wonderful to start the season being able to work on and develop the new passing game against a weaker opponent. Very excited to see the Gattis offense at work!

I don't think there is much to worry about on the first point, however.
