terrible idea

why not just leave bad enough alone? I just received my 2nd degree from U-M, still live in A2, went to this game with my brother (alum), who was consistently shown on ESPN and Big Ten Network "high"lights of this game. Look, whether we like it or not, U-M football is inextricably linked to that loss to App State. I mocked them and that ridiculous promotion video of theirs all summer to only watch in complete and abject horror as the impossible became harsh reality. U-M is part of history because of that game, and unlike most of the positive connections with football history, this is not the case when it comes to App State.

They came in and outplayed us. We choked. We NEVER should have scheduled that game. I despise the idea of ANY FBS team playing an FCS team. I don't want to hear about the $$$, there is absolutely no reason to schedule these games. Let alone a rematch. What are we going to prove? This is a different U-M program and Armanti Edwards will not be on the field in 2014.  Even if we win 70-0, what does that prove? Everyone will always talk about how they beat us first. We look ridiculous trying to reschedule this to try and redeem our supposedly tarnished reputation.  We should have walked away from this one, tipped our hat to App State, and get back to winning football gams against FBS teams, something to really brag about.

East Coast Recruiting

Great stuff so far, thanks!

One thing that I would like to add: I recruited for U-M Undergrad Admissions for 7 years: New Jersey for 4 years, Westchester County (NY) and Connecticut for 1 year, and 2 years in NYC (The 5 boroughs).  U-M is hugely popular in NY (especially on Long Island), NJ, and Maryland.  There are many students whose grandparents, parents, and/or siblings went U-M, and the fact that we now have D-1 Lacrosse, my guess is that we will become a legitimate option for many students. Also, these recruits will likely have friends going to U-M just for academics, so that could very well be an even bigger draw, not to mention the quality academics that we offer. This will be very interesting to follow.
