Two weeks ago Michigan won their 8th B1G Championship in the last 10 years.

With only 3 B1G Tournament Championships, #17 Michigan looked to establish themselves as the dominate force in the B1G by winning the 2019 B1G Tournament.

1 seed Michigan got a First Round bye on Thursday and faced 9 Purdue on Friday in the Quarterfinals after Purdue upset 8 Michigan State on Thursday in the First Round.

Michigan rolled to a 4-0 win over the Boilermakers. The tandems of Kate Fahey/Brienne Minor and Lera Patiuk/Alyvia Jones secured the doubles point. Michigan dominated with singles wins by #3 Kate Fahey (6-4, 6-4), #48 Brienne Minor (6-2, 6-2) and Alyvia Jones (6-3, 6-1).

Another quarterfinal upset gave Michigan a longtime nemesis in the Semifinals: 5 Northwestern.

Michigan easily handled the Wildcats in the regular season (6-1) and the tournament meeting was no different.

Michigan scored the doubles point with Fahey/Minor and Jones/Patiuk picking up the point for the Wolverines. Singles wins by Fahey (6-3, 6-0), Minor (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) and Chiara Lommer (6-4, 6-0) gave Michigan a 4-1 win to advance to the Championship.

2 seed Wisconsin had a light schedule this season and unsurprisingly was bulldozed by 3 Illinois. Illinois nearly pulled the upset against Michigan in the regular season with the Wolverines prevailing on the road, 4-3.

Different story today as Michigan would not be denied history.

Illinois went up 1-0 when they took the dubs point. But victories by Kate Fahey, Bri Minor, Chiara Lommer and the clincher Alyvia Jones gave Michigan the 4-1 win over Illinois. All of those singles wins were sweeps.

1 Michigan wins their second straight B1G Tournament Championship, securing the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. It's the 4th Tournament crown in program history (1997, 2015, 2018, 2019).

Michigan is now 18-5 on the season and will learn their NCAA Tournament selection tomorrow at 6:30pm. There is a good chance that Michigan will host a regional at the Varsity Tennis Center.
