Roll Call for Saturday + Early Weather Outlook

Submitted by XM - Mt 1822 on November 24th, 2021 at 6:02 PM

Mates,
Cutting to the chase, lets see who is headed to AA for the game on Saturday.   And while we're at it, what type of pre-game plan, ritual, tailgate do you have in store.

Out ahead of our esteemed weather lady, looks like it'll be dry and mid-30's.  Some rain/snow tomorrow and Friday and maybe on Sunday, but not for the game.

Tonight's questions:

1.  Are you going to the game?

2.  Regardless of whether you are going, what is the plan for game day and watching?

Happy Thanksgiving,

XM

In 1996 we decided to trip to Columbus and see if we could scalp tickets.  We weren't successful, so we ended up at Hineygate.  It was all fun until Griese hit Tai Streets in the 3rd and the crowd suddenly realized their undefeated, #2 Bucknuts might actually lose the game.  The crowd turned from drunken friendly to drunken dangerous really fast.  We stayed just until the final second ticked off, then snuck out of there real quick and real quiet.  Had to break up a fight on the walk to our car.  Celebrated all night long.  In the safety of our friends house.  Have declined offers to watch the game with OSU people ever since.

Tailgate at WestSide United Methodist on 7th.

Since it will be early we will do a breakfast casserole in the crockpot.

Planning to rush the field like 97…

Going.

Drinking cheap beer (quantity over quality for tailgating), and cooking up some JERK chicken (get it, jerk, because of who we are playing) rice and peas, and fried plantains.

Bringing the Mrs who has reluctantly agreed to rush the field when the game ends.

I'll be there at the crack of dawn, as usual somewhere at Ann Arbor Golf and Outing (weather permitting).  There's at least a dozen of us & 3-4 vehicles who will be meeting in Ann Arbor @7am, then following each other in as a group (since AAGO's policy is now "no saving parking spots"); canopies, tables, grills and bar set up by 7:30.

By 11am, though, I'm leaving the tailgate and heading to The Big House. I want to have time to visit a couple friends inside Michigan Stadium and also see pre-game warm-ups and the in-stadium part of ESPN GameDay, then be there as our MMB takes the field.

Before this season, we hadn't been to any U-M game since the 2007 OSU game.  I decided this year to buy the four-pack because I just had a feeling/hope that The Game would be important this year. Think I figured Harbaugh was under the gun and would do anything to win this season. I was so bummed when we lost to MSU.  The funny thing is, that loss is almost meaningless in the grander scheme.  This game is turning out to be everything I had hoped.

That said, we'll be starting in the Lucky's parking lot at Stadium, just east of State. Then, we're headed to meet some friends at The Rib Crew tailgate in Crisler's lot.

I'm so pumped.  Trying to temper my expectations, but damn...let's do this!!

I'm going with my daughter.  We're gluttons for punishment.  We will probably grab an early lunch/late breakfast downtown before the game.  Dinner at Diamond Jim Brady's after the game and off to the building still known as Yost.

Down for the hockey game on Friday, staying in Brighton both nights.  Hit the usual spots downtown(Literati, Vault of Midnight, MDen, Blank Slate, Rock Paper Scissors) grab some lunch, then walk to the game.

Fire Keepers Casino just down the road.  I will either be betting big or drinking heavily.  I do think this team has a punchers chance.  When was the last time Michigan had a quarterback play all season and start the Game?

Beat the bucks.

Both kids are home from college so I can't get to Ann Arbor this year. The last time I went to an Ohio State game, it was 2011 and I was with my son, who was 11 at the time and yes, we stormed the field. Will be watching from our family room, M flag at the ready.

Sorry but I fully admit I'm broken from the cumulative effect of the last 16 years.  Since 2018, I haven't been able to watch.  I just head to the gym at kickoff and workout for the entirety of the game.  I kinda feel like it's a lot healthier for me, net net.  I follow it on the phone, but I just can't watch it unfold and have my soul mercilessly ripped out of my body.  If there is a good result (someday there will be), it will be on my DVR and I will thoroughly enjoy watching it; otherwise....delete and move on.  Not a big deal.

First time in about 20 years I'm not attending t(tm)OSU game at Michigan. My federal government has not rescinded the requirement for PCR testing for Canadians returning from Michigan meaning it would cost about $1200 in testing (it's pricey in Canada). The truly dumb part is they actually let you do the testing in Canada then drive to Michigan, sit in stadium, then return. It's inane. Testing requirements end November 30 (not kidding...thanks Justin Trudeau /smh).

I'll have to tailgate in my yard and tolerate the game on my tv. Sacrifices to the God of "doing things differently" may be necessary.

My Buckeye friend who I use to work with until he moved on. We both agreed never to watch the game together, since things could go wrong, which could damage a friendship (this was 15 to 20 years ago when  Michigan was more competitive). But I did watch the NC game with him, when Florida smoked them, I was happy and he got so upset by the blowout, LOL. Who knew  back then that Urban would end up at OSU.

Will be attending my 18th edition of "The Game" on Saturday -16th in AA, and a couple in C'Bus.

Rolling into Pioneer west side parking lot at 6am ready to party (23 degrees be damned). Chili and Brats on the menu, with lots of Fireball and Captain Morgan/Rock N Rye in between. Here's hoping we play the inspired game of our lives and the post-game celebration is memorable! Everything about this game always feels different, no matter the status of the teams. Can't wait for Saturday. I love knowing all of the eyes of college football will be looking at Ann Arbor for 3.5 hours from noon til 3:30.  ooops  I meant 4pm since it's a Fox game and there is no chance they will let it finish by 3:30 :)

November 24th, 2021 at 10:57 PM ^

I'm travelling Friday from TX with my oldest son and his wife, and my niece's husband from WI.  We're staying at The Graduate, and sitting in section 15, row 16, courtesy of the OSU Athletic Department.  Naturally, we're all Blue-Bloods, but another niece's husband got 4 free tickets (and he's a State fan, and will be in TN).  So.... Free trip thanks to OSU (and a relative's business relationship with Cleveland ties).  I am concerned I'll be located in a sea of red.

Where to go, and what to do is still up in the air, and we're open to suggestions.  Seems like Schembechler Hall is closed.  Last game we've been to was the 2017 O'korn game.   We're staying till Sunday.

1.) Nope I can't go unfortunately....so I've got 2 tickets for sale if anyone is interested. (section 13, row 6, seats 17 &18)

2.) We were planning on making signs for GameDay, doing a little tailgating, and then going to the game and cheering until we were hoarse....but now I'll just be watching the game from home.  On the upside it's going to be like 75 and sunny in Phoenix on Saturday

Currently planning to be there, waaaaaay too early, at Pioneer.  Still haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do for lighting since the plan is to be there before sunrise.  Never set up a tailgate in the dark before - this'll be new.

Will be there at 7:30 am, RV lot at Pioneer.  Last year was the first time in 8 years not making it to the game. I am looking forward to grilled shrimp and rib eye steak.  Maybe a barley soda and some apple crown,  I have been to all the games at UM but started traveling to Cbus just to make sure I'm there when we finally win again.

.  It's strange to say that I missed seeing my Buckeye friends due to the pandemic.  Yeah they are far more likely to enjoy the outcome Saturday  but they almost seam to feel guilty for winning so much.  I was never so gracious during the Cooper years.

I’m bringing the family up from Alabama. Best place to park?  Golf course?  Pioneer?  I’d like to grab breakfast, however, I’m sure it’s going to be a circus  on Saturday morning.

I am open to any suggestions/recommendations.

going to get into AA by 8:00-8:15 AM.

I’ll be there. Driving up from Ohio on Saturday morning with my brother in law. The plan is to get to AA around 8:30, find parking on a side street, get some breakfast, maybe meet up with some friends of his to tailgate/drink for an hour and then head in. This was a last minute decision for us, but we’re both tired of watching the game in a house full of Buckeyes. We’ll be in section 19.

Seeing an old friend and meeting his bride for the first time. Purely by providence they live less than a mile from the Big House.

My wife and I will be in section 23 row 49.
