Refs had our back

After watching yesterdays game 1 of 2 things is evident:

1.) The refs knew they owed Michigan a favorable disposition after screwing us to holy high hell the last 2 years in this game.

2.) They knew we had a better chance to make the playoffs.

If you don't believe they purposefully try to influence these games, I'd say you were crazy, because as bad as they screwed us the last 2 years, they had our back yesterday.  It was that obvious to me.

Yeah I don’t see how anyone could have a problem with the refs yesterday. I thought they called a straight up fair game. Even all those PI calls on us were fair.

Now if only those refs could officiate every single game.

The refs were typically fair and probably trying to do their best.  I thought they allowed hits on the sliding Haskins.  Apparently this is not a crew for targetting.  The defender left his feet to hit Gentry so I thought that was targetting.  I think they were too quick to call DPI.

Everyone notes that Watson was absolutely grabbing the jersey on the pass play (sad because he was in great position) but he was also called for grabbing the jersey while pushing at the line of scrimage.  I have never seen that called before.  Usually the defender is pulling the jersey over the the WR's shoulder pads to get that grab called.    There was a call agianst Michigan on opposite side of the field from where Watson was holding that was a touch with zero hold or interference.  We got called for a holding on a run to the outside in the second half.  I thought the block was clean the player twisted and slipped.  OSU did what I thought was similar block on their previous drive and it wasn't called (at least as I thought I saw it.)    I will admit that some replays prove my first impression to be entirely incorrect.

You're delusional. Not about the refs treating us more favorably or at least not not-favorably. They don't think in terms of owing anyone anything over a period of years, and they certainly don't give a crap about playoff chances as it relates to how they officiate.

For the most part, ref bad calls average out to even over time. We've had bad games and good games. Our bad games have been some of the highest profile matchups and with highest consequences from the bad calls, but that's it.

Stop watching cable news. There aren't conspiracies everywhere.

Given that the refs were favorable to Michigan, it didn't hinder OSU completely steam rolling over them.

Surprising? No.

Michigan's OSU problem can't be solved by even Harbaugh. The guy has absolutely no clue on how to play with the big boys in college football. Whatever he did at Stanford didn't carry over.

Ohio State would have crushed any of Harbaugh's Stanford teams regardless.

I never understand why Stanford would be the goal-state for Michigan.  They never even had a sniff at a NC.  They would only be a middle tier team in the Big Ten East.

Refs were fair.  Our plethora of PI calls is because we got beat by better athletes and could not compete otherwise.  Need to get better players to compete with OSU.

No idea what the refs are told but they definitely favored us heavy in the first half. There were two spots that the refs gave Michigan a full extra yard on. One of the first downs should have been a bring out the chains situation and the ref gave Michigan a whole extra yard past the first down. Also a few times Michigan players got way too chippy on the OSU sidelines and the refs just let it be. Plus they called an unsportsmanlike penalty on Urban. I would definitely say refs favored Michigan yesterday and I never think the refs favor them.

I would agree completely. Obviously missing multiple targeting calls being the worst of it. Regardless of having a second team playing against us on the field our preparation and talent prevailed.
