North Carolina hosting Michigan for B1G/ACC Matchup
Sounds like a whole lot of basketball recruits are going to get some tangible feedback on their commitments.
A whole lot, or just 1?
To date, only one. But if I recall my MattEM correctly, a number of other major recruits have narrowed their lists to Michigan and UNC (and others). I do not think I have gotten over my skis by suggesting that a few of those recruits might have committed by the time the ACC-B1G challenge rolls around.
Does anyone know how good UNC is supposed to be next year?
Good question: they've started out the last few seasons ranked pretty high but struggled. Michigan beat the crap out of them a few times in recent years. Iowa beat them pretty handily last year as well. And now they're breaking in a new coach. I hope Michigan destroys them on their home court. GO BLUE!
They'll be a solid team depending on how good a coach Davis is. Walker Kessler, Dayron Sharpe, and Garrison Brooks are all gone, they have borderline 5* C Armando Bacot coming back and 5* PG Caleb Love coming back for his sophomore year, Oklahoma and UVA transfers Brady Manek and Justin McKoy, then a bunch of young top 100 guys. They'll have a nice starting line up (that lacks shooting besides Manek) but after that there's not much proven depth.
I figured it'd be a big time program, too bad we got hosed out of a home game last season due to covid.
I hope we continue to kick UNC's butt!
Toledo ended up being better than NC State, though.
Hell yea - I'm 20 mins away from UNC. Will be decked out in the correct shade of blue :)
I'm about 30 minutes away (Apex).....and I'll plan on going, too.
Cary guy here and my son goes to UNC. I will definitely be grabbing some tickets for this!
Containment Area for Relocated Yankees! Enjoy! Lived in Garner fresh out of undergrad. RTP is such a great location. I need to go back.
Yep. Straight from A2 to NC. I got trapped here and can't get out!
I’ll be moving just northeast of Charlotte sometime in the next few months (if HR ever gets their crap together). Hopefully before the season starts
Charlotte is a nice little drive from Chapel Hill, so hopefully traffic cooperates for you if you want to make it to the game that night.
In Deac country. I'll do my best to be there
I just moved to North Raleigh and excited to be able to go see Michigan in person again!
Not a fan of the heat and humidity so far though...
Username does not check out. What do you think of the light green pollen that coats absolutely everything?
Please report back in November with your updated viewpoint.
This is great! I love playing the ACC top teams in this challenge.
Again?
But tbh not a bad year to be playing UNC
Just announced on 11W that OSU will be hosting Duke in the ACC/B1G challenge... no shortage of blue bloods playing the B1G this year.
I think UM handles UNC, hoping OSU can keep their end of the bargain up with Duke.
The hell with OSU and Duke. But OSU more.
Sounds like someone could use a Slushie from (puts on sunglasses)... Circle K. Yeeeeeeaaaaaa
I don't have a dog in this fight. I hate both. But to be honest, I think I hate Duke more in MBB. But I've been around long before Juwan was a player.
Go meteors!
Ssssh! It's cute hearing Buckeyes talk about non-football.
I use my cooler-pooping time on MBB, the rest is usually football.
Well done. You'll do ok here. Much better than I would do on 11W.
It’d be nice to hear something on Dickinson and Jones soon.
They'll both be here next season.
I don't have any sort of backing evidence or source for this information Im providing I simply need it to be true for me to sleep well in the evenings.
I mean Dickinson is coming back. There’s literally no one saying he should go pro. Jones, from what I have read, has put himself on radars, but those radars are looking to see more sample size against better competition; he should be here as well
I've been reading lots of mock drafts and I haven't seen a single one list either of them even at the tail end of the second round, so although that's far from an iron-clad indicator, it's certainly suggests that their likelihood of being drafted is low and therefore makes sense for them to return for a year.
Jones didn’t get an invite to the NBA combine. I think he plays as a Wolverine next year.
Neither of them got an invite to the NBA combine. There's nothing to worry about.
I’m more concerned about them getting a paycheck in the G League for a year than I am the NBA.
I remember getting a draw like this and dreading it. How things have changed! No doubt UNC has some dudes, but I bet Juwan will have the boys ready.
I mean we are the reigning Big Ten Champs.
would have loved to play duke but i guess we will just have to beat them in the tourny and end coach k’s career
Love these early seasons games with big programs going head to head...
I think UNC has been middling the last few years with Williams, so it will be interesting to see what Davis brings (though I know he was an assistant there during this timeframe)...
Still cool to see these teams on the same court though.
I live in NC, my son and I will be attending this game.
Games against UNC, UK, UCF, Oregon, seton hall, and the tournament playing 2 of the following: UNLV Arizona and Wichita state. I love it! The quality and variety of opponents is a plus
Won’t this be the third time in five years we’ve played them in the B1G/ACC matchup?
Either way should be a great game. Hope this sets Michigan up to host Duke in 2022.
duke is playing at osu this year so i’m not sure they’d make them travel twice in a row .. virginia is the only top level team hosting this year really, if that’s any indication for next year
Ahh okay I thought my BR notification said Duke was hosting OSU. Yeah they won’t make Duke travel away two years in a row.
Hosting UVA next year wouldn’t be bad at all.
I love the smell of fresh tar heel in the morning.
Beat those baby blue Tar Heels!
GO BLUE!
Go blue....
(and maize).
