Nik Stauskas Profiled on NBADraft.net

Submitted by Mmmm Hmmm on

NBADraft.net recently put together a write-up about Nik Stauskas's draft prospects:

http://nbadraft.net/players/nik-stauskas

The grade they gave isn't keyed to a projected pick slot, but having used that site in the past to follow the draft, it usually is equivalent to a second rounder. For what it's worth, their latest mock draft has him as the projected 33rd pick, but 49th best on their Big Board.

Although it is not the most positive/flattering line and many will disagree with it, they sure did troll the "not just a shooter" drinking game: "Although he's viewed as more than just a shooter, his lack of overall speed could relegate him into being a one dimensional (spot up threat) pro"

I would love to see Stauskas beat these expectations!

[EDITED to fix projected pick and big board position]

Appears to lack a conscience. Somewhat nutty and unpredictable. When you take some of these comments out of context, he seems like a guy you'd want to avoid. Come back to school, Nik!

The conscious comment is a compliment in basketball, but I don't see the leap calling him nutty. He lost his shoe and tried to get it off the court in a fast break. He just threw it a little too far. It's not like he took his shoe off and whipped it at a Crazie.

I think NBA teams should have a dedicated scout to every college team that produces NBA prospects.  That one guy would know the team in-and-out the same way we do and could avoid all the bullshit that comes through nationally.  No one that follows the team would ever think of NIk as "Somewhat nutty/unpredictable" based one literally one incident where he "Decided it was a good idea to throw his shoe into the Cameron Crazy crowd after it came off during game."

Also he was still hurt during the Duke game.  Sounds like this profile was written by a dookie.

If there was ever a job for NBA teams to give to eager interns/low level employees who all aspire to be in front offices, it would be this. Be the expert. Teams will send their senior scouts to watch any prospects they are considering, so they can check the interns' work.

He is very talented but needs more strength and speed to be effective against NBA athletes. Let us stop with this GR3 and Stauskas to the league noise. It's all OT.

Nik needs to lead Michigan deep and back to the Final Four, get drafted in the first round and make a rookie impact in 2014/15 NBA season. That way recruits can see that Beilein can even make a Canadian white boy good at basketball and get him drafted in the first round!

I really hope everyone comes back. That team would be special. Of course it would be premature to not hope for a national championship this season !

Look at his improvement from last season to this season.  Obviously not going to see that kind of jump again to next year if he stays but I am sure he'd definitely improve his overall game (and draft position).

Note: I am being selfish since I'd love him to come back next year.

They have LeVert as a first round pick in 2015 and McGary as a second round choice in 2015 as well. What really has me puzzled is not seeing GRIII on either the 2014 or 2015 mock.
