Purdue never shoots like they did against us from deep. We got what we expected inside, but I did not expect an onslaught of contested threes to fall. For a team that can body Purdue they are very beatable assuming they don't go 11-19 from deep.

Yeah I was looking up scores from the day's basketball action when I happened to see the score from this game. I was quite confused and wondered how Purdue could lose at Illinois when Michigan won there. With that result, I'm thinking Purdue isn't a real contender to win the conference.

Or it's one game.

Matchups!
Transitive property doesnt apply.

But Illinois doesn't match up well with Purdue's bigs either. Did you see Donnal against Illinois?

Happen in the B1G every year from preceived bottom tier teams, in any conference for that matter. I hope your not pacing the hallway wondering how this happened)

I'd say they happen in every conference, every year. Going on the road and winning in conference play isn't easy.

I watched most of it actually - Malcolm Hill and Kendrick Nunn basically had a fantastic night indeed, accounting for what I would estimate to be 60%-ish of Illinois' entire offense. I think Hill ended up with 30 points by himself actually - without him and Nunn, Illinois really was shooting at a meh sort of clip, but you never know who is going to have one of those nice games, right?

Illinois had a great shooting night against Purdue. They shot 54% overall from the floor and 52% from 3 against Purdue. You're going to win a lot of games when you're shooting over 50% from the floor AND from 3.

We played pretty bad defense against Purdue and we didn't have Caris. Illinois has worse bigs than us.

believe how many layups guards get against our defense. I have really never seen it happen as much as it does against this Michigan team.

our guards should foul if they can't keep their guy from getting a contested layup. But then Beilein takes them out right away if they have any fouls, so...... man, we are kind of screwed.

This is what pisses me of the most with Coach. Once a big fouls, they get an auto-sub. Protect the rim or aggressive defense and foul, you're pulled. What incentive is there for the Bigs to play physical and aggressive?

I agree with those that said 'match ups, match ups'. But on paper, this was a bad match up for Illinois. Weird game.

The guy is a major talent and was absent vs Sparty and his head was probably elsewhere before. I'm sure he will leave for the NBA early to support his family.
