A little fun with our FAVORITE ESPN SportsCenter host.
Continuation of the ongoing war between WEEI and ESPN. Makes for tremendous radio. Minehane is a self-important asshole of epic proportions, but have to agree he's direct and on topic in regard to our favorite loud mouth Sparty.

What is WEEI and who is Kirk Minihane?
Right. Also, who is Jemele Hill?
you may be more familiar with it as eSECpn
I thought it was ESTMZPN
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
WEEI've always been at war with ESPN
Maybe he has the mistaken idea that Patriots love on here extends beyond GOAT Brady to entire Boston sports scene. Love Brady, and root for the Pats while he's on the team, but that's the extent of my interest in their sports.
WEEI panders to the mouthbreathers in the Boston sports sphere and trust me they are plentiful. And I'm speaking as a fan of Boston sports.
Is EEI any different than any other sports talk station? Their talent is shittier than 98.5 but they do the same things. Minihane is the best from weei FWIW.
But when you have someone in the GOAT conversation, you kinda support them a little harder. I followed the Raiders more than other teams because of Woodson. If he's not the GOAT in the secondary, he's definitely Top 5.
Think about the poor Georgia Tech fans that had to follow the Lions because of Megatron.
2 irrelevant people talking about irrelevant things is pretty much what I gathered from this.
I still can't believe ESPN thought this was a good idea. Something something about people in charge of things.
"And yet I have these things. What are they called? Oh, that's right. Ratings. You should try them sometime. Kind of fun," Minihane tweeted.
I admit, I chuckled at this. That was a decent comeback. Didn't realize this was a real fight that was going on, but I did get a laugh out of this back and forth even despite proudly not having seen one minute of SC:6.
Wish I could have the last minute of my life back.
But how can anyone side with Minihane on this? People got laid off and he just randomly insulted the 6 PM ESPM show for absolutely no reason.
Again, could be missing feuding before this, but Hill literally said nothing.
Before the layoffs hit he said he would be fine with being let go as long as The 6 didn't survive either. It did and the above fued is the result. It's a horrible show with nearly no ratings - far less than the 6:00 SC that preceeded it. It appears that Jemele Hill will respond to ANY tweet that is directed at her. I think the whole think is childish, but hilarious.
I have no idea what I just read.
J. Hill will be off sportscenter in less than a year. She is terrible, my guess is she finds her way to the spartan beat or she sues ESPN for firing her. Where she will say she was let go for __ & ______ but really it's simple she is awful.
used to like her when she was just the State beat writer and would be on like Stoney and Wojo and local radio. She seemed grounded and very informative. I am not sure what she has become but she is much less enjoyable now.
Why is she interviewing an actress on a sports station about a movie that is not related to sports at all? This is dumb and Kirk M. had a point back during the layoffs: If I was any of the on-air personalities that actually reported on sports, I'd be pissed that SC6 was still a thing.
I hate saying this as a black guy, but her ability to still be employed at this high of a level feels like more than a talent-based decision.
Very diplomatically and delicately put. Well done. I thought she was a fresh voice when she was local, but she is just God awful at this point.
I seriously don't know who any of these people are.
Less mental pollution to be bothered with.
The main problem with Ms. Hill is the militant racism.
Hill freaks out whenever anyone points out any of the many MSU negatives. FREAKS out. Then, she'll be the first to talk really viscous s**t when MSU does well.So she's no different than any other MSU fan? This is how fans behave when they, at their core, are completely insecure about their position in the sports universe. Sparty has had a pretty good run the past decade and had a chance to prove they were better than the "little brother" characterization that has been assigned them. Instead they spent that cache' by being overcompensating boors, which is what losers do when the losing suddenly stops; deep down expecting the good times will not last, they make as much hay as they can. Jemele Hill is one of the more visible examples of this...and it's not a good look. Ultimately, all Sparty has proven in recent years is that they can't resist their basic nature, which is why we don't respect them.
There's a bit of professionalism that she needs to still employ. Plus, some of the stuff she says is as bad and off base, like her "paid-for" hot takes.
She wrote an article about how many different teams could still win the Big Ten Football championship one year. It was inaccurate so I emailed her and explained her error.
Her reply was was terse and bitchy.
She's never struck me as the type that knows how to handle criticism. She's perfectly fine with dishing it out, particularly to Michigan fans, any chance she gets. But the minute someone insults her or MSU, the gloves are off.
Hey! Sounds just like Tr . . .
Never mind.
I'm sorry, I meant Asshole.
I learned that Jemele Hill should wear sleeves. Always.
That's all I learned from this (problem perhaps being between my ears).
And this, folks, is what our current state of news has devolved into: petty Twitter wars that make each side look like an obnoxious six year old. That goes well beyond sports.
I have no idea who this Kirk Minihane guy is, but whatever crap Hill gets, I generally assume she deserves it. She's nothing more than an unprofessional blowhard who goes loses her shit in some profanity-laden tirade anytime someone criticizes MSU in the slightest. And she's usually the first one to rub it in everyone's face when MSU does something well.
I'm all for having pride in your alma mater, and she has every right to. But as a commentator you have an obligation to your viewers to remain at least somewhat unbiased on camera. She makes no effort to hide being a blatant MSU homer. A lot of people want to see her get fired, but I have my own ideas as to why I don't think she will be.
I think the only SC6 broadcast I am interested in watching is the 6 o'clock Monday after we crush sparty 39-0 this fall
This is a brilliant idea.
No doubt. This is also precisely why you should expect to never see it on ESPN.
Both her and Galloway are still employed by ESPN. I'm good with this show, but it should be a podcast in someone's basement.
"The Unemployed (Should've gone to Michigan) Homer Show"
I literally change the channel when she's on my screen. I can somewhat stand Herbstreit. I don't know why but he seems like a likeable guy.
Herbstreit used to really go out of his way to be unbiased and be rather fair and balanced when it came to us and OSU. The last few years as he has moved up the ranks and kind of become "the guy" for college football at ESPN. Now he has kind of let that balance go. He seems to homer up more each year as he probably seems pretty secure in his position at the moment.
I think Herbstreit still makes efforts to keep a balanced view - it's just that Meyer's Buckeyes have been a juggernaut for the past several years, usually ranked in the top three. That sort of dominance will make a neutral party sound like a homer to some.
The only reasons I used to dislike Herbstreit in the past was (i) when he was interfering in our head coaching search whilst Bill Martin sailed the oceans blue, and (ii) his presence on a broadcast usually meant that the insufferable Brent Musburger would also be on the call. With all that in our review, I actually enjoy listening to the guy.
Remember he had to move to Nashville because the Bucknuts were being Bucknuts.
“We just felt that the time was right,” he said. “Doing my job, it's the greatest job in America. I wouldn't want to do anything else. We didn't get chased out of town by Ohio State fans at all. There were a few isolated incidents where we just thought about things and family and their safety and decided it was probably in the best interest of our family to move.” LINK
